Right

Most of the time with that stuff only a tiny piece will be left from the original and they’ll recreate the rest but still call them “Civil War (items)”.

They're in storage until the roofing project is completed.

I was on the ROTC advisory board until a few years ago. Hate to say it, but there were several complaints that the canons were somehow escalating racial tensions given the time period they were used in. People still there tell me it’s doubtful they’re going to be displayed again.

This sounds about right. Weasel admin types won't say they're removed, but are being moved temporarily for site maintenance. They will never appear again.

LSU will sure as hell fundraise off the history of military service associated with the school, but its sad to read they won't support current generations seeking that education. And for the buffoons arguing about Sherman and the civil war, you are merely proving the point of those that would diminish ROTC, amongst other things, and remake campus into a progressive utopia. Give it a few generations, and they'll be erecting statues for people who campaigned to rename streets.

They’re sitting next to the statues from Nola.

Quit being so dramatic. They're actually in the process of repainting the pedestals before they are re-installed.

This.

OP update this thread so idiots can stop spreading lies. The amount of mis-information on this board when it pertains to things like this is insane.

once the repairs are completed, the cannon will return...

---I'd like to believe that, but in today's climate, I bet they'll disappear again quickly.

Racial? I'm guessing white progtards objected.

Why would anyone be upset by a Union general displaying war trophies?

That's good to hear. I don't mean to sound dramatic, but it's common in large organizations to have decisions made through indirect means to avoid debate.
