I am. I've got more than a few friends that have been hired there in the past year or two, so LORs are plentiful as well.

Just got off the phone with Army ROTC, because of roof repairs, the cannon are in safe storage...once the repairs are completed, the cannon will return...

I’m glad to hear, and hope that is all it is. Thanks for the information.

Taylor was commanding the Mobile area at the end of the war. Not the last to surrender.

My mistake. He was succeeded by Edmunc Kirby Smith

I know it will. I just wish it would happen yesterday. I'm getting impatient and want to get my name on a list. Maybe I can be 787Tiger one day.

I'm pretty sure they legally seceded. The North was the aggressor.

Does anyone know what happened to the two Civil War cannons that used to be displayed in front of the ROTC building on campus?

Yankees took them back up north. Spoils of war and all that.

They were donated to the university by General William T. Sherman, who was also the university's first superintendent.
The cannons were from the Siege of Fort Sumter

In case you were not aware, Sherman was a prominent Union commander.

They are the spoils of war. ...and all that.

No. No he is not. He WON.

At the end of WWII, General Curtis Lemay said that had the United States lost the war, he would have probably been a war criminal). We won, so he wasn't.

(Google Lemay and the fire bombing of Tokyo and 67 other cities in Japan). Those fire bombings in 1945 killed far more Japanese than both the nukes combined.

They fired on Ft. Sumter. Sherman stole them and gave them to LSU. Thief.

How do you know that General Beaugregard didn't bring them from Louisiana with him to South Carolina?

It has been verified that both cannons have been located inside one of the cars found in a New Orleans drainage canal.

stranger things have happened, I wonder how long those cars have been down in the canal?

I can only guess since Katrina.
