I dropped with 5 companies, and had interviews with all 5. Interview day was brutal, but I ended up with an internship in industry.

IMO, if you do not plan on taking the CIA Exam, you probably won't get much out of the information being taught in the classes. I mainly used the program for networking experience and getting a foot in the door with an internship to gain work experience.

My advice would be to not give up on the program if you do not get an internship through the lottery. There were lots of opportunities presented throughout the semester, and I remember just about everyone in my class getting some type of internship.

I should have payed attention in math & been a goddamn accountant. It's like being a lawyer, but with job security.

I was being totally serious. B4 internal audit is about getting a name on a resume, acquiring a few certs, meeting a great network of people and gaining exposure to executives at the early stages of your career.

The actual skills you are learning...being an auditor are not skills that many people want to do for the continuation of their careers. The industry knowledge gained in IA is overblown.

Meh, I did the LSUCIA program and it gave me a perfect stepping stone to jump into opportunities I otherwise wouldn't have had. You don't have to do IA once you graduate. I had a great internship with CIT that I leveraged for a more consultative role within EY. A little extra motivation and one can leverage the program for something better than IA.

Fair enough. LSUCIA is about door openers at the end of the day. My post was more on the traditional route of traveling through IA rather than how the program itself can be leveraged. Good points though.

Literally the worst piece of "advice" in either this thread of the other thread you have. Pay absolutely 0 attention to this.

I knew I could ruffle a few feathers. Largely from what I've seen this has been my experience. Not always the case of course.

These two things are not correlated.
