As someone else mentioned it isn't the teller making the determination to file a SAR, but someone in the compliance department. Additionally, at most banks the structuring activity isn't primarily being detected by the tellers (particularly in instances where a customer structures at multiple bra...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)

Trump's Mistakes in His Memo - MStant1 on 4/5/16 at 9:53 pm
[link=(https://www.washingtonpost.com/apps/g/page/politics/memo-explains-how-donald-trump-plans-to-pay-for-border-wall/2007/?tid=a_inl)]Trump Memo[/link] This is just a silly memo that has already been discussed, but I'd like to focus on Donald Trump's ignorance as it relates to Anti-Money Launde...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (4)
Ask for an ID.
Current regulations for remittances do not require an ID for transactions less than $3,000 - which for most migrant workers their transactions are significantly less. That said many money service businesses do have their own internal policies requiring ID's at low...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Who here is former Big 4? - MStant1 on 1/8/16 at 9:56 pm
What my friends are paid is not the right comparison set. The comp set is what others in the same field are being paid. I think consulting / advisory is where the compensation issues exist. The B4 sets the market for audit and tax and if one of them is out of line then people will just switch...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
So how did you guys feel about working for the big 4? Did you feel like they paid you appropriately?
How do they treat compensation? If someone got a sizeable raise leaving for industry (this is normal) and then comes back to the consulting firm (presumably in the same title) does the firm give an additional comp bump? 7 and a half years in. Still cranking away. Trust me if you want to return to your firm you can easily return (at least from what I've seen in advisory). I've seen so many leave and boomerang a year (sometimes less) later. As long as you didn't leave like a jerk they will welcome you back w...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (3)
Consulting at the Big 4 is limited due to their audit practices. Consulting projects for audit clients can create conflicts of interest, or the appearance of conflicts. If you are interested in true blue management/strategy consulting, then Big 4 isn't the place. McKinsey, Bain, Deloitte Consulting (not advisory), BCG are what you want. The best way to get into one of those places is to go to a top 10 MBA program. Engineering consulting is out of my wheelhouse,...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
What advice would you give a young person trying to break into consulting at one of the Big 4 (Deloitte, KPMG, PwC, EY)?
Depends on what you are defining as "consulting". The only one of the Big 4 that still has a distinct "consulting" arm is Deloitte. The rest have what they call ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: does your company still offer a pension? - MStant1 on 2/24/15 at 6:09 am
Mine does; however if you're not an executive, then it's relatively small. The real pension starts for the executives. Rumor is that Non-equity executives get something on average in the realm of 150k per year in retirement. Equity partners get something on average in the realm of 500k per year. ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
