I've seen them around, but just recently got the "sales pitch" from a user. I wouldn't do them because for one I'm an ex smoker, but the no regulation or FDA approval worries me.

The one good thing I took away from it is that it is vapor. No smoke. When you exhale it dissipates in seconds. It doesn't linger like smoke or smell.

He doesn't pick up his refills at the local gas station either. Does it mail order, and I think he has to mix some of it. I can't be sure, but I remember his kitchen counter looking like a chemistry experiment.

It's unhealthy! It stinks! Everyone of you who do it is going to hell!!! I hate y'all!!! Get off my campus!!!! Think of the kids!!!!! Why is no one listening to me!?!??

I can picture her having a nervous breakdown talking about this and go on a screaming fit like the one I typed. And everyone watching her lose her cool would laugh.

The "smoke" from these things dissipates in about one second. You blow out a big cloud and it dissapears almost instantly. For those saying "we dont know what it in them," actually we know exactly what is in them.

If you're "young" and you smoke then you're stupid. No alternative.

The alternative is people are free to make a personal decision.

Do you realize how poor the logic in this is?

I can just as easily say "If you're young and you drink alcohol then you're stupid. No alternative." and it holds more weight than your statement because:

quote:

What’s even more offensive is the underreporting of the health effects of alcohol that prove alcohol is our defining health issue. Tobacco has at times held that mantle, but by comparison, only 473,000 die annually of smoking-related illness. Beverage alcohol kills more than a million. A 2012 study by the German University Medicine Greifswald found that heavy drinkers are at more risk of death than those who smoke.

My intern smoked cigs at the beginning of the year.
I told him about E-cigs to help him save money.
Now he carries his giant fricking lightsaber/cigarette with him everywhere and a carrying case with different flavors.
He literally puffs a deep inhale every 5 minutes. All day long.
He was only smoking maybe 2-3 cigs a day.
There is no way this shite is a better alternative.

My big problem with it right now, is that he smokes it at work. I've told him he can't do it, but he went over my head and got it approved by our HR person who likened each puff to a smoking break. And since each puff only takes 10 seconds then it's better than taking a 5 minute break. So now at my work you can puff on it all day without any sort of repercussion because it's not like taking multiple smoke breaks.

Also, it does make a noise and it does have a scent depending on what the person is "vaping".

The way it deems to work is that you have a cartridge that's filled with stuff. That goes into a heating chamber when the person inhales, turning the cartridge stuff into a gaseous form. My intern complains that sometimes the stuff will gunk up his heating element if it's a bad ratio of certain oils in the cartridge.

***I'm a non smoker. I'm starting to have a disdain for this shite as much as real smoking now.

I for one much would rather being around someone vaping than smoking real cigarettes. The vapor dissipates rapidly and leave no lasting smell.
