Bockrath for chancellor, or bring back John White from wherever he went off to.

I wasn't talking about his teaching I just meant in life.

From the stories I've heard from the old days, the female portion of the faculty probably wouldn't be super happy about that.

That is just what the real Bockrath would want you to think.

Carter was one of the worst professors I had for sure.
So is the consensus that they'll likely promote from within?

Updated story on the advocate:

One complaint against Weiss includes a faculty member’s allegation that he retaliated against her for filing a sexual misconduct complaint against a colleague. Alagood, meanwhile, charged that Weiss pressured the student newspaper after it ran an article about a perceived lack of diversity at the Law Center. Weiss denied both claims. Elizabeth Carter, an LSU Law professor who said she’s speaking only in her personal capacity, said she filed a complaint about sexually inappropriate comments made by a colleague. While she couldn’t elaborate more on her complaint — she’s abiding by a confidentiality agreement she also contests — Carter said in an email that Weiss retaliated against her for filing the claim, even after the accused party “immediately admitted wrongdoing and agreed to an acceptable resolution.” “Chancellor Weiss has used intimidation, harassment, confusion, denial of rights to participate, and other unjustified and unlawful conduct in an effort to prevent me from raising concerns I have regarding the Law Center’s commitment to diversity and compliance with applicable law and policy,” she wrote, adding his actions have “prevented other people—and women in particular—from filing Title IX or comparable complaints out of fear of retaliation or non-action by Chancellor Weiss.” Weiss denied engaging in retaliation, “or any other form of illegal gender-based activity,” adding he couldn’t comment further on Carter’s statements because of the school’s confidentiality policies around such filings.

I don't understand the diversity issue. The admission standards are what the admission standards are. Unless they are rejecting minorities that have higher grades/scores than whites that were admitted, what's the problem?

Most of the complaints regarding lack of diversity are about the faculty. There aren't many minority professors there. The ones regarding students are about two isolated incidents, nevermind that a black student was the SBA President a year ago.

Alston Johnson, Morris, and Bockrath really shaped my legal education. They were my building blocks.
I only took Devin once, and it was when he taught Administrative Law for the first time. I really enjoyed the subject, and he was fantastic in teaching it.

Out of the 36 faculty listed on the law schools website, 9 are women and 3 are African American. I'm betting that those numbers aren't that far off from the law school averages around the country.

Alston Johnson would be a fine chancellor, but I don't know that he would want that gig.

I know the civilian professors may want an insider, but LSU really needs to make a big hire. That may require another outsider.

Can someone breakdown why the civilian professors would be against expanding the law center to include a robust common law program? Essentially, you could have two separate law schools under one roof (not really, but you know what I mean). That would seem to be attractive nationwide. You could really recruit nationwide, in addition to LA's in-state students. If done correctly, I don't know why a dual program law school at LSU couldn't crack the top 40.

Pretty sure 7/10 of the graduating class' executive committee were minirities.

Wasn't Bill Corbett a chancellor at another law school before he came to LSU? Not saying they would offer it to him, but I think he has some experience.
What is the time frame for a hire like this? Before the start of the fall semester?
Also, I don't see how Weiss stays on the faculty if the tension between him and the group of professors is as bad as it seems. He will probably retire or go back into private practice.
