Could someone do me a favor and give me a thumbnail on the real story here?

I get that Carter is widely seen as the disgruntled force in the background, and that the "civilians" may be part of the cabal. I get that some arse clown student wrote some nasty articles about the law center. Is that it?

What you posted is pretty much spot on, except that Carter is/was mainly disgruntled with publications in the Civilian and the Reveille, and how Weiss handled a certain situation.

I think that to say Carter was a "force" in Weiss stepping down is speculation at best. I think it probably had more to do with the fact that many members of the faculty didn't want him there to begin with (due to his lack of educational background, lack of "tradition" for the civilians, or what have you), and it finally reached point to where he just decided it wasn't worth the hassle anymore.

Maybe. All bullshite aside though, it really is a shame. Weiss is a fundraising God. It doesn't matter much how many diversity scholarships you offer if you don't have the money to fund them.

All I remember about taking a class with Carter was that I wish I had earplugs every day to drown out her voice, and that she had great sweater puppies. Other than that, it was abysmal.

I took her for a class and I thought she did a good job. I didn't think she was terrible at all.

Who gives an easy multiple choice test in law school?

Miss three questions and you are at the meat of the bell curve. Miss five and you are staring a gentleman's 1.7 in the face.

She didn't give us a multiple choice final.

As multiple choice goes, the La Bar exam is moving in that direction with more multiple choice and the MBE gives you a big dose of it.

I had her for a class, her first or second year teaching. She was not Randy Trahan or Andy Carroll, but then again she was young and learning and was not as sure of herself as most of the Civilian type professors. She was competent and taught us what we needed to know and was very nice and had a good attitude overall. Class was somewhat refreshing at the time.

I am more concerned about the grandstanding and particularly a law professor commenting on Twitter. Wtf. Seems a little over the top for a professional attorney and academic. I think by all accounts Weiss is a good man. Carter should have been quiet and showed humility and thrown a party behind the scenes, but showed class in public. Wish the guy well and move on.

The resignation was timed with the Fourth of July weekend to avoid as much publicity as Weiss could. The government always dumps bad news just before holidays and three day weekends because people are traveling or celebrating and not paying attention to news.

Taking it one day at a time. Chipping away at it little by little. Hopefully, I'll be able to chime in with a in the bar results thread this October.
