Same could be said for being a plumber. Reading books on plumbing schematics and tank installation sounds interesting, as does making $100k a year. All that changes the first time you get blasted in the face by shite.

If plumbers had to take on $100,000 in debt and spend three years in school to become plumbers, I would agree with you.

I swear I see this thread once a month. But I for one am pleased Louisiana will have 300 more lawyers. It's really wonderful. Wonderful.

You can be a master plumber at the age of 21 at a fraction of the cost. You'll be making about the same as the top 10% at most law schools too.

So compound the problem by adding 3 more years and a mountain of debt?

Or you do your due diligence before going to law school. I didn't jump right in. Some kids do. The point of my comments was that there is a lot more to be considered when choosing a graduate degree/career path than just first year out of school money.

And there's no shame in it, either. I tell people all the time that I should have become a plumber or electrician, and I'm one of the lawyers that most people would look at and say, "he's lucky and has done very well for himself."

The problem is, how do you know you will enjoy it? You won't know what it's really like until after a considerable investment of time and money.

I knew from the moment I picked up a law book I'd enjoy it. Really. No shite.

Many people hate it, though. Lots of lawyers are miserable.

There is no due diligence in the world that will guarantee you like a profession when you finish school.

Me too. It was law or long-haul trucking. I honestly think I'd be happy doing either one.

LSU tops the state. No surprise.

Southern had a 41% passage rate? That's progress.
