Wife wants a French or English bulldog puppy for Christmas. Anyone have a suggestion or contact information?

I have an English Bulldog.

I also went to law school.

Both were very expensive decisions.

Try FBD rescue. Be a hero ( twice), save a life.

BTW, you will never have a dog you'll enjoy as much as a Frenchie.

Frenchies are a blast. We've dealt with a bunch of skin issues, but either breed is gonna be prone to that.

ETA: My parents have had 2 English bulldogs that were total nut cases, but the male was pretty fun and could fetch 4 tennis balls at once

Love my frenchie. He is about to turn 3.

I researched reputable breeders in Texas for a few weeks and then contacted the ones I was comfortable with. Didn't take too long at all to find what I was looking for (fawn male with black mask).

Doubt you're willing to come to Texas for one, lol, but country tails kennel is a legit breeder if you get desperate (countrytailskennel.com)

2 surgeries.

One I would say was breed specific which cost about $900.

The other being he is a panty fiend and one got caught in his intestines. Which created quite a humorous moment when they pulled those out.

He's had a couple allergy issues that led to some larger bills, but that has happened two or three times. Dogs are eventually going to have a big vet visit in general.

He's 7 years old now.

Yea. I am debating between a corgi and a bulldog right now.

I have always had big dogs, so I am going try something different.

DO NOT GET ANY BULLDOG, ESPECIALLY FRENCH BULLDOG

worst fricking dogs ever.

money pit, impossible to train. just burn the money, it would be a better use of your time.

Edit: In-Laws have had 3. The first two died because of weird issues that are inherent in the breed. Third one is full retard, whiney, and constantly has vastly expensive vet bills.

List of issues:

Synus problems
Allergies
Hip dysplasia
Constant diarrhea
Farting (sounds weird and funny, but this gets old quick, and if you have ever smelled a dog fart you understand)
Hyper-sensitivity to infections
Constantly eating things they shouldn't and they are UBER sensitive to items they eat (acorns, leaves, twigs, mushrooms, dirt, drinking from puddles). A friend of mines French bulldog died from drinking out of a puddle....drinking from a fricking puddle KILLED it. This means any time you take your French bulldog out, you are constantly watching its every move to make sure it isn't eating foreign items, and you have to keep reaching into their mouths to remove items.

I guess the only caveat to this is that my mother in law sucks at training dogs, but frenchies are not prone to good behavior and obedience. They dumb.

But, but, but the ears are perked up all the time and they're so cute! Don't be fooled. HORRIBLE dogs. Could not recommend staying away enough.

No one can predict the costs you will incur, and I don't have any idea how much a corgi costs or its inherent issues, but if you want to minimize the odds something crazy is going to happen with some large vet bill, go with the corgi.

Also, bulldogs shed like crazy. Kiss your house goodbye. Also kiss goodbye to being willy nilly with your clothes. Clothes you leave the house with should never touch the ground or your bulldog.

We don't let our bulldog have full access to the whole home so it isn't a disaster.

Sorry to hear you had problems with yours but a Frenchie is the BEST dog I have ever owned . Very loving, trained easily and is like another kid. Wish I had or could afford another right now .

Go to the AKC official website and search for a registered breeder in your area by using your zip code and corresponding breed you would like. And to the poster he had the demon frenchie, in my experience you may have just gotten unlucky. I have one that's great as do several friends in the neighborhood and I've never heard them complain once

That's a big difference in dog. My cousin has an English bulldog and it is a pain to keep clean and smelling good. They are also expensive.
