Remember for next year the arse hole dads who think their kids are better than they really are, and never draft their kid again in the future. Bad parents ruin the whole experience!

Get as many 8's as you can. 8's as in 8 years old. If mom is an OT 8 that is a bonus

One of my less experienced kids became one of my best hitters after a light switch came on. He went from batting 7-9 to 1 by second half of the season. You need to make it fun for them while learning. Make games out of the skills you want them to learn.

Overall it was a fun experience especially watching the kids improve and their enjoyment playing the game. I had some great kids and parents.

this is what it's about.

I much prefer taking the "worst" kids in the league, and then developing them into a team that can win a couple of games by the end of the season, as opposed to trying to win the league with the best kids.

When a kid strikes out 11 times in a row to start the season and then is hitting triples at the end of the year... that's what it is about at this level.

This has to be a joke, right?

Draft the worst kid first. You will make his year. Who cares if you win or lose at that age, every kid gets a trophy anyway, so why not make a kid happy who otherwise will go home dejected about being picked last.

Lotta hate in this thread.

No. It's not a joke. And I didn't scout the players.

This is how the league is run. The draft ensures that coaches don't build loaded teams with the best kids, resulting in one or two really good teams that clobber the four or five remaining teams in the division all season.

I was asked late - yesterday - to take a team. And the draft is tonight. All of the other teams have coaches plus two assistants, and each gets to bring in their kids - the majority of which are very good. So the teams start semi-loaded. Except of course the one I will have, as there are no assistants on board yet. That'll come after the draft, with talent of kid TBD.

So I'll have the average and not so good kids. I'm just trying to get a few good ones so the team is at least competitive. All without the advantage the existing coaches have.

That's the reason for the OP, which I now regret.

And I should have known better to come to the OT with this.

Need advanced metrics.

Can they eat pizza left handed?
Can they swat a mosquito with a comic book?
