That's all semantics. The bottom line is, nobody's throwing parades and waving flags for Timothy McVeigh, or any of the other slew of psychopathic shitbags in our history who just so happened to serve. Similarly, we shouldn't be throwing confetti and celebrating guys who get in trouble with the law "who happened to had once served".

There's a bit of difference between a DUI and blowing up an occupied building. I'm not defending DUI's, I just think it's silly to proclaim that anyone who has had a DUI doesn't deserve to have his service acknowledged.

Dude, don't be a dick. Memorial Day is not an excuse to bash others. I was a light infantry medic who served twice in Iraq, and saw my fair share of loss. Here is my opinion. While I Memorial Day is a chance to honor those who passed in service I choose to not make a sideshow of it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart all those who passed in our nation's defense, and thank all who have served in any capacity.

See, it was that easy

Not enough people were joining the Army during the Vietnam war so the brains in Washington started this thing called "draft". I was a happy 20 yr. old with a hot rod, money in my pocket and a hot gf when I received my letter. I did as I was told. The details will remain privy to myself. 2 years later they let me come home.
The military and civic organizations consider me a "veteran". The question to OP is do I qualify in his eyes?

Well, we're all certainly entitled to our own opinions.

Again why do "veterans" think they deserve a discount every where they go?

I read all 4 pages and you have not responded to any post so while you say you are superior your post and lack of response show that you are truly inferior.

By definition I'm a Veteran, LANG but I don't go around telling people I'm a veteran. I was not called up for Desert Sheild/Storm but was supposedly a day away by the way they called units up. Still a Veteran, but I do not need memorializing this weekend. Veterans Day is later this year try your bullshite then but for this weekend lets remember those who gave their life for our Country without disparaging those who lived.

In staying with your original post I truly believe that you are inferior to me and I will back it up by smacking you down. Wow, it really is easy to be an internet badass.

To those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for our Country

3. Active duty veterans who never saw a day in a combat theater.

Quite frankly if it was up to me (I'm I'm group 1) I wouldn't call anyone from categories 3&4 "veterans."

You actually referred to them as veterans yourself in group 3 you dipshit.

Yes we are and I'm particularly interested in yours. In your view, 20 years of faithful and honorable service, including multiple combat tours, multiple awards for merit and valor under fire, are all negated by blowing a .09? Is that correct?

Yeah, veteran "status" is achieved by meeting certain criteria.

It's like saying somebody no longer has a degree or a record of any accomplishment because of some other factor in the future.

One simply has nothing to do with the other.

I served in combat, but believe anyone who has served is a True Veteran and should br treated as so. Combat or no Combat

Thanks to all my Brothers and Sisters, I love my work with Veterans the last 20 years.

He didn't even need all that. He and his buddies sure as shite didn't need medical either.

We're still dealing in civil war type shite, if you get shot, that's the end of the road.

I want to thank you for taking the time out from your busy schedule of making stolen valor videos, to make the shittiest thread ever in the history of TD.

You still wear your old high school football letterman jacket to football games, don't you?

I am guessing most of "The Old Guard" have never seen combat. They are not vets?

Damn, I guess my 20 years in Active Duty Army don't really mean shite just because I didn't get to deploy to combat. Had a few humanitarian deployments, but that doesn't count. I tried volunteering to deploy in 2003, but they didn't need anymore of my MOS. So, accordingly to your self appointed I'm better than you BS, should I willingly relinquish my retirement check because I'm not a real Veteran?

Dumbass, you do know there is a difference in being a Veteran and a Combat Veteran? Or did your idiotic ego get to big for you to know any better? And I'm not really impressed that you were or are an Officer. Some of the biggest self centered, narcissistic idiots I met in the Army were Officers.
