But you have to take the plasma to get refilled once a year and that is a big pain in the arse. Headed to best buy next week to refill mine.
What?
I've had my plasma for about 7 years now, and have never had it "refilled". I don't believe that's even possible.

I bought that 4k smart 60" samsung couple weeks ago.
If they make a better tv I'd like to see it.
Badass.

Plasma beats the shite out of LED. Anyone that thinks otherwise is just falling for all the marketing hype.

Plasmas are so overrated and you hear the same thing parroted over and over and over but better picture/deeper blacks etc.
To the OP watch several buy what you think is best. Personally I like LED having seen and owned both.
If you choose plasma though be careful. All the major manufacturers are discontinuing their plasma lines. Id be concerned about their continued support if something happens to it a year-two years down the road.

I have a Phillips LED that I'm very satisfied with. Got a great price, and it's a great picture. Personally, I love it.
I do agree that Plasma gives a little bit better picture, but it has drawbacks that I think aren't worth it.

It's unfair to call it "parroting" when it's true.
The cheapest model of the final generation of Panasonic plasmas (the ST60) went down to .002 fL for black. The best LEDs are 10x worse, and they try to make up for the inherently poorer native black level of LCD tech by dimming the LEDs. It is a huge difference.
The edge-lit sets dim zones typically 1/8 the height of the screen and half its width, which is complete shite due to the large rectangular brightness fluctuations it causes in dark scenes. The full-array sets causes spotlight-type blooming artifacts around areas of brightness surrounded by darkness, and they're only as good as the number of zones they have, which is never enough. Then there's the poor uniformity and flashlighting that plagues LCD sets.
Plasma doesn't have those problems. They emit light directly instead of shining light through color filters that can't close sufficiently to block it. They have better motion since they don't use sample-and-hold like LCD.
Disadvantages to plasma include being unable to get nearly as bright as LED-LCD sets (non-issue for dark room viewing), line bleed, buzzing, rainbow effect, image retention, and higher power usage and thus heat production. (Plus you gotta refill the damn things every year or two. ) People who own plasmas found the better picture quality to far outweigh these disadvantages, which only appear a very small amount of the time.

If they were both calibrated properly and viewed in a dark or at least light-controlled room, I think yours would be an uncommon preference.

That's true for any model of TV, really. Manufacturers maintain some parts inventory for warranty repairs, but once you're out of warranty, they can charge whatever they want. A brand new TCON board can go for $400 three or four years out, which leaves you to buy untested used parts pulled from dead TVs and sold by a plethora of more or less shady vendors.
Hopefully OLED will continue dropping in price and be reasonable before my ST60 dies.

Would not buy Plasma due to them being completely phased out.

I can't think of a single reason why that is a valid position.
