No, I need proof because I don't believe you. I spent the majority of my life in the NOLA area. I have never heard a complaint about monuments until the Bitch started her shite. Now if you have proof that these monuments have been a problem for the last 4 decades, I'd love to see it. Otherwise, I call bullshite.

This is your gotcha on this?

Saying no one cared about it was wrong. Saying very few cared could have been more accurate. Saying there was no real push would have been too.

They have had groups for 20+ years wanting them down.

City administrators are not aiming to remove any monuments beyond the four Confederate monuments already slated for removal, New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu said Thursday evening (May 11), after the second of the four, a statue of Confederate president Jefferson Davis, was taken down early Thursday.

My arse.

The fickle mob won't let them stop.

Your elected councilperson did this. Mitch just proposed it.

No. That's where you're wrong. He'll be hated forever.

Unless of course, you mean the idiots who want them removed. They probably won't remember. Some other shiny thing will have attracted their short attention.

He will never be loved, his name will be synonymous with the statues. But give it a few years and no one will give two thoughts.

More cheap tricks.

And actually, as far as referendums go, they don't matter.

There was a good reason the SOB was nicknamed "Quarter-Moon" when he was in the legislature.

46k post, member sinde 2013. You should consider getting out more. Maybe visited Nola more often and see the good Mitch has done for the city rather then bashing him. That's if your obesity does not prevent your ability to do so.

He is from New Jersey but couldn't get into a real Ivy League school. Tulane accepted his money and him, and after just three months he could finally pronounce Tchoupitoulas, Calliope, and Carondelet just like a local.
He has a retro Schwegmanns grocery bag and LOVES the uniqueness and culture of the city! He waits tables now, and may have to move to Texas or Seattle for a job in his field, but he'll always be a true New Orleanian.

But does he know yet what K&B purple is?

Mitch isn't going to pull down the Simon Bolivar statue too? Bolivar owned slaves--he has to go!

No shite. Mitch has been the beneficiary of an urban growth trend across America. His frickery with the NOPD and gouging of tax payers is threatening any good that has been done.
