I am talking about like how the old Japanese tradition is, where you take your shoes off at the door, even guest visiting.

I visited a house like this once. It was a friend of a friend, I had never met them, and they made everyone take their shoes off at the door because of their white carpet (they were not Japanese)

It is a more popular tradition up north.

I have some in-laws that are pretty crazy about shoes in the house. You better kick those things off before you walk in the door.

A couple of European ethnic-heritaged American families I know have done this.

I know some Japanese folks who don't insist that you do it but really appreciate it when their guests volunteer to do so.

Yes, but they're asian. Never met someone from any other race with a no shoes in the house rule.

We don't wear shoes in the house.

I understand if it's a tradition in some country, but the house I visited was a no shoes rule because of their white carpet.

Yes, it's annoying. They even take their shoes off at my house.

Start picking up things with your toes. Magazines, utensils, and the tv remote. You need to stand your ground flex your nuts.

I went to a friend's house the other day and they had just gotten new hardwood floors and they wanted me and my girl to take our shoes off.

This was for dinner. With other couples. I was wearing loafers and no socks.

I spent the rest of the evening walking around barefoot like a fricking Indian in a teepee.

I do this on the regular. Makes sense to me. Why track all the outside dirt inside your house? I don't make guests do it though.

I don't think I know anyone who has a no shoe in the house rule, but a friend of mine's mom is a clean freak and doesn't allow company to sit on the couch or recliner. When someone goes over there, she puts the chairs from the kitchen table in the living room.

This is the point the OP is making. It's wrong to expect that of guests.
