I agree. We purchased Jenn-air for our new construction home. In 4.5 years I have replaced the microwave, touch screen on the wall oven and some electrical part on the range oven. Customer service is great but the inconvenience sucks.

We have Kitchenaid and they've been fine.

Our W/D are Speed Queens....and they are hideous but flawless in operation. Don't really care about their style and single color options since they are off in their own room.

I've heard bad things about their durability.

And yeah - Wolf, Viking, etc. - those are the top shelf stuff. They make Viking in Mississippi.

I have a house with high end appliances, none older than 2018

currently one of the ovens is out, the dishwasher is out, and the ice maker is out. I have not even bothered fixing them yet because honestly my life has been no less convenient without these pieces of shite. They have been out for at least 3 months

manageable because I live alone, i just cook in the slow cooker, on the stove, or use the air fryer and hand wash dishes.

Before we moved out of our last house we put in new stainless Samsung lower cost kitchen appliances that worked with no problem.

The new house we moved into had brand new high dollar stainless Samsung kitchen appliances. Good thing they were under warranty because the repair guy had to come out like 7 times to fix the various shite that would frick up on all the different appliances. That repair guy was so frustrated.

Stay away from any appliances that are Samsung...Samsuck.

we had an independent repair shop in to repair a samsung kitchen appliances under warranty - the guy said if samsung and LG ever got their act together his company would go under as they comprise nearly 2/3 of their business. He nodded to our Whirlpool fridge and Bosch dishwasher and said we did well there but expect the samsung stove to cost more for repair than to replace once the warranty is gone. we replaced it with a whirlpool though I admit I liked the samsung better

Bought a Thermador dishwasher. Supposed to be top of the line. $1200, quiet and washes dishes well. Drying dishes is where the issue is. It relies on the heat from the hot water to dry. It doesn’t work. Have to let them air dry. Cheap ain’t good, and good ain’t cheap. And good ain’t good anymore

Couldn't have spent more than 500 on this Frigidaire dishwasher and it heat dries the dishes. Fridge and Microwave are the same brand and are both over 10 years old. Stove was the same but got in a pinch with a broken glass top the day before we were supposed to cook a big Thanksgiving meal and had to get what I could get to replace it.

My last GE microwave (and I hate Ge appliances) lasted 18 years. Died a few months ago.

We have GE everything, but i don't get fancy features. my washer and dryer are 16 years old. my dishwasher is 9 years old. I did break something on there myself, but that was my fault. our microwave is 12 years old.

hell, i have a GE toaster that i got 20 years ago as a wedding gift that still works.

i'm not a huge homer of them or anything, but we buy low feature products from them and very little breaks.

We built in 2022. The appliance options were essentially Kitchen Aid and Bosch among others.

After doing research and kicking the tires at the plumbing supply Co, we threw in the towel and went with Whirlpool.

1- They were 30% less than Bosch and KA.
2- They looked very similiar in design and quality.
3- We can always upgrade later if we don't like them

So far so good. We are pleased. I don't get the fascination with Bosch.

Remember. Always remember. LG and Samsung on the TV stand or living room wall ONLY.

In the laundry room? Regular Speed Queen

In the kitchen? Least electronics as possible.

Then there will be a happy appliance life.

Long story short, all appliances were original to the home, and they all worked perfectly.

Same for my house when I bought it. Built in the early 1950's and the oven and cooktop were built by General Motors. Found a mid-century Westinghouse roaster oven in the attic, built like a tank and still works to this day.

the user washer dryer market is STRONG

check buy-sell-trade or hit up napoleon. he just freaking found an all stainless commercial speed queen someone was trying to toss out..his 'holy grail'.

I don't get the fascination with Bosch.
their diswashers are pretty good and quiet.

another true story: the house we are about to sell came with a bottom-of-the-line bosch dishwasher and the wife fussed because of the 'clickity' punch buttons on the front to change settings and make it start.

my work office has 6 bosch dishwashers..the REALLY NICE ones. i know they probably get more use but every time i'm in the office there are at least 1 or 2 with 'out of order' signs on them.

my takeaway: that bottom-of-the-line bosch we have is all mechanical and the fanciers ones with more LED screens and touch-tone buttons create way more opportunities for failure.

someone said it early in the thread: with appliances 'luxury <> better products'; the simple ones with mechanical parts which make up the low-end tier instead are the ones that will just do their damn job for a long time without expensive repairs.

and where the hell is napoleon. we need him to enter this thread and give us a breakdown of which speed queen models to avoid. i'm in the market.

These are the homes you want to buy. Original owner, older home, estate sale type thing that has not been updated at all but has been maintained. They are the Mecca of smart home purchase in my opinion. Old growth lumber, you’re getting a deep discount on not being updated, nothing is hidden from a shoddy flipper. If anything is there to see, you can see it.
