Is it THAT they quarantined her or is it how they went about it? Didn't they basically stop her at the airport and lock her in a room until they could transfer her to a tent outside of a hospital?

I believe this was the case. According to her, she was stopped at the airport and held in a room. Her temperature was normal. They continued to hold her despite no temp or any symptoms. After a few hours they took her temperature again. This time it came back as 101 which is a cause for concern. She said it was b/c she was 'upset and flushed' and told them to take her temp orally. They didn't. Instead they took her to a hospital where her temp was taken orally and came back normal. She showed no signs of anything and they continued to hold her in a tent outside the hospital for three days with no shower.

her version of the events

All medical personnel in her situation are supposed to monitor themselves. Once they detect a fever, they have time to alert public officials before they become contagious.

I don't care if she doesn't have it and is no danger at all, I hope she is forced into quarantine because she comes off as a self-righteous bitch. It would be even better if she actually got it

You have to understand that they could be the subject of an illegal search, but none of them would ever go to Africa. So they think she brought this on herself, and it could never happen to them

They might want to go hunt in Africa

The same precedent would be used then expanded for other purposes.

What are they? I haven't studied their exact med school credentials but I do know they were health care workers. If you're at the point where you're nit picking between me calling them doctors and them actually being nurses, then you've already lost the argument.

They are nurses. They don't have med school credentials. Get your facts straight. That's the whole point of the argument anyway. Facts. Facts not fear.

Yeah. I think there should be a requirement to meet a high legal standard before they are able to hold someone against their will for 21 days. I hope this does go to court and both sides present evidence so that a judge can determine whether such a threshold has been met. Giving state officials the power for a 21 day hold without due process makes me very uncomfortable.

GOLF CLAP!!!!

Excellent Post. Al the lemmings posting in support of this illegal restraint need to be called out in the next thread where we discuss personal liberties.

Oooohhhhhh, they are nurses, not doctors. That changes everything. Nurses are basically Down's Syndrome patients who have to have the doctors tie their shoes for them. Zero training given to them, especially those working the Ebola ward. They probably just showed up to work, saw a guy in a big plastic bubble and decided to have a pillow fight on top of his hospital bed, got thirsty and polished off the rest of his Sprite.

Or do you think that maybe, somehow, even the experts at dealing with Ebola don't know everything about it yet?

She should sue the hell out of everyone involved. I would find in her favor.

Go look at the timeline of thomas eric duncan and see all the people that were around him (and caring for him) without getting sick. You don't start sneezing blood walking down the aisles of albertsons unless you've been sick for a while. Duncan had to be taken to the hospital. The paramedics didn't catch anything. The people staying with him before that aren't sick despite being with him in a small apartment for a couple days after his fever started. He was in the hospital for a few days bleeding, with uncontrollable diarrhea and projectile vomiting while the staff wasn't wearing the proper gear. Evan then only 2 of the nurses got sick. They both treated him before the hospital staff began wearing the correct safety equipment/gear.

I'm with you man. I'm thinking 70% of the people in this thread have slim to none experience dealing with critical incidents.

They know how they got it. By either dealing with the patient's vomit, diarrhea, dialysis or intubation.

Not everybody who is around someone with a virus gets infected by it. I don't care about the people that didn't get it, I care about the people that got it and how not to have other people get it. This expert narrative of the virus that you're trying to write also includes an ending with a 90% mortality rate, but of the 5 cases reported in the U.S., 4 have survived. I know it's a small sample size, but the next 44 have to die for that to be accurate.

you have no understanding of epidemiology obviously. In order to learn how not to have other people get it you have to care and study the people that didn't get it.

what? No. It's 50% in Africa.

Seems she could be charged with murder or attempted if she knowingly was breaking the quarantine, was infected herself, and infected others
