That's a shame. Our dog killed a neighbor dog who wandered into our fenced in yard years ago.

We went over to the neighbors house that evening to apologize (even though we didn't do anything wrong).

Tough situation for sure.

you need to start paying more attention when you're driving man. Those kids will never forget this day and will always associate you with this careless act

pet bevereavement cards

GTFO

I grew up in the country. This shite happens. Man up, tell them you are sorry, and move on. A card will mean nothing to the kids and would be weird for the adults.

It sucks. Some things in life do. You can't fix it.

Dealing with death of a pet is a valuable life lesson for dealing with death of family members (people).

Yeah I remember when our family dog was run over right in front of me. Dude stopped for a second then just kept going. I never got a bereavement card or a fruit basket or nothing.

Stop the car. Dog is dead. Kids are crying. Other father comes out. We place the dog in a garbage bag.

Your experience is unique to yourself.
Not everyone grows up in the country. We all have diff upbringings.

I'm just not sure how to proceed.

I was at a kids birthday party for little kids once when some guy ran over a dog right in front of the house. I mean he really splattered this poor animal.

The dad/host instantly pussed out, claiming he had to leave immediately. The mom was left there to deal with it, and she freaked. So I got a shovel and garbage bags and scraped the remains off the street before the kids came out front. When the dad returned, he never said a word about it, just pretended it didn't happen. Never respected that guy after that.

I don't get what relationship all these kids have. There were 5 in the yard.. But you only mention an 8 year old and an 11 year old later.

What does other father mean?

How fast were you going that you ran over it with the front and back wheels?

Your only real option is to move. If not it's just going to be awkward with subtle resentment and passive aggressive conversation.

I hear you, brother, and I understand. Tell me you are sorry, realize you can't unfrick it, accept that the kids are going to be upset and mat blame you, and move on.

It sucks to run over an animal. Props to you for taking it seriously. But you can't fix it.
