Breaux said he walked up to the group and identified himself as a police officer, and Becker pushed him

Yea I agree. I would put the odds somewhere between 0% and 0.001% that the cop approached them and removed his badge and showed it to the kids.

The fact that this cop has priors and the kid doesnt is making me really scratch my head on how some of the OT supports the cop. The OT usually loves to hate on some punks with priors

Its pretty outrageous that JPSO hasn't started their own investigation yet. That they would wait for a formal complaint when the video us available just shows their mentality.

Becker wouldn't talk about whether he'd been drinking Friday night, but he claimed he had no idea that Breaux was a deputy.

“We had no idea, and for a man to just come up and start acting like that, it's wrong," Becker said. "I think he should be stripped from his duties.”

Maybe it's been said before...I haven't read the entire thread yet...but this seems to be almost EXACTLY what happened with Ricky Jefferson two years ago during Mardi Gras, isn't it?

Plainclothes officer confronted group of high school guys near Clearview and essentially get into a fight with them while the young guys claims they had no clue the random a-hole was a cop and not just some random a-hole?

No...not at all. Other than it being in the same location during the same time of year the altercations are extremely different.

They will settle. What they should be worried about is if the FBI and DOJ are gonna mess with them. They just love finding things wrong that local agencies do.

That makes 0 sense.

The kid's first reaction is to shove a cop immediately after the guy identifies himself as a cop?

My guess is he's got a lot of experience with these types of claims.

Idk what his practice is though...

In his remarks Thursday, Becker didn’t deny putting his hands on the deputy but suggested he did so in self-defense, adding he had “no clue” at first that he was even dealing with a law enforcement officer. He accused Breaux of turning his aggression toward him after he came between Breaux and Jensen.

“When I stepped in, I said, ‘What the F is going on,’ just trying to find out why he was getting in my friend’s face,” Becker said. “That’s when (Breaux) started beating me up.”

Becker acknowledged he “might have laid my hands on him just to get him back.”

“I’m sure I pushed him back because he was right here (in my face),” the student said.

Yeah it's a stupid story. Like someone said, there's both sides to a story and then there's the truth.

Here's the problem I have with this episode: if the kid was an actual criminal then I don't see a problem with what I saw in the video. HOWEVER, the cop was probably the aggressor because he can't take being told to shut up by some punk kids.

If you're undercover or off duty then I don't know why you expect to be treated as a police officer in uniform.

Right.

So the question is: when did the identify himself?

Given the cop's background as a competitive fighter, he should've used more discretion before laying into the kid.

Some professional we got here...

That cop is a thug piece of shite. If he was my neighbor I would shun him.

Has the officers name been released? The links in the op look all fricky.

After reading the update, Becker is better off shutting his damn mouth. He might get more out of what will be an inevitable settlement.

He doesn't want to talk about drinking (he has that right, but it's also 99.99999 percent guilt and 17 year old males are SLOPPY drinkers at events like Mardi Gras).

He admits to pushing the cop ("not like that" or whatever...still, uniformed or not, you pushed).

Shut up, kid. Let your lawyer do the talking. Jesus.

Many large corporations like Wal-Mart and Lowe's along with security at mall arcades would love to have him.
