It has been understood and accepted that my company was planning on transferring me to Dallas. My wife and I have been planning accordingly since the start of the new year. However, it just came to my attention that my supervisor is recommending me for a promotion and head of the Tulsa branch. It isn't a given that I'll be approved and extended the promotion, but the word is that it is all pretty much a done deal. That said...
A. The Dallas job pays $82,000. I'll essentially be performing the same duties, so little training is required. The responsibilities are the same and I think it'll be an easy transition. Room for growth is limited as it is a bigger branch office.
B The Tulsa job pays $115,000-120,000. There will be some new training and my responsibilities will obviously increase. Also, the new job will require me to work more as I would oversee the Tulsa branch.
A company car is provided for both jobs. My wife works in HR/billing at a medical office and will be getting a comparable role in Dallas/Tulsa. We have a 2 year old and spending time is something I look forward to. School systems are always a factor, as is money....
Thoughts?

Unless you are weighing Dallas vs. Tulsa, what is the dilemma?

Sounds like that Tulsa job for the win. Good luck with whichever decision you make

Tulsa... think about that long and hard! TULSA!

Can't weigh in until I see offer letters. Else I'd think you were lying.

This is an elaborate "this is how much I make" thread

Take the money. It's an extra 30-40k a year in a place with a lower cost of living. Which means being able to retire earlier.
Might not be as much fun stuff to do in Tulsa, but how much free time do you really have with a supervisory job and a toddler?

Take Tulsa, earn your stripes as a supervisor, transfer where you want to ultimately end up. No question.

82k in Dallas is poor. 120k in Tulsa you are top 1%.

No state income tax in Texas and I assume my wife would be able to find a job easier and make more money than in Tulsa?

A. The Dallas job pays $82,000.
Not enough to live in Dallas
B The Tulsa job pays $115,000-120,000.
You'll be rich in Tulsa

Your wife pops off about that job in tulsa you get to tulsa and trade that chicken dinner in.

Tulsa isn't a bad city. Broken Arrow is actually really nice. And the cost of living is a factor.

Take Tulsa - it's a no-brainer

There's a reason the pay is higher for Tulsa, but if you can deal with that it seems a good choice.
And it's "dilemma".

Your money will go much further in Tulsa, and obviously the raise will be nice.
82k in Dallas will make you feel poor in comparison.
