Ah. So you're a poser.

City trucks are stationed around the Jefferson Davis monument. Crews could begin dismantling the monument at any moment

I'd like to see the qualifications of the city employees Mitch the Bitch is using to do this

I play pool league for the bar in the background "The Holy Ground". Needless to say the last few weeks of this have made me hate both sides as all I want is my damn bar back without snowflakes melting and people walking around with multiple guns outside.
Fwiw, I oppose tearing them down, as I am from here and have never heard a damn peep about the f'ing statues until Mitch opened the proverbial can of worms. I do find it humorous that most the people protesting on both sides aren't from here; while us locals are watching this with a meh attitude wishing everyone would just shut the frick up.

I stood on the neutral ground of Jeff Davis Saturday taking pics of the protestors and I noticed something for the first time: behind me there was a large bust of some Confederate Colonel that nobody seems to give a shite about. Why isn't there a hubbub about that?
Also, is Mitch Bitch gonna try to change the name of Jeff Davis Parkway? Seems like the business owners along the way would give him too much shite to even try that. So if you can't change the name of the street, what's the point in taking down the statue?

plaques should tell the stories of their horrific crimes
Personally, I say you can have the others. Beauregard was an abolitionist who fought for civil rights after the war, but you can have him too if it makes you happy. shite, I wish they'd have called me when they tore down the fricking White League monument. I'd have helped them do it.
But if you tear down Lee, that is what I'd consider to be irreconcilable. "Tyrant?" You're an idiot. "Traitor?" You're an idiot.
Do yourself a favor and read a fricking book one of these days.

They need to arrest that dude wth the gun
Louisiana is an open carry state baw. He wasn't breaking any laws, therefore isn't subject to arrest.

He's gonna shoot people over a statute?
No, he's got himself some self defense so he doesn't get mugged by a group of leftists like what was going on at Berkeley protests.

See here is the problem, you give these assholes an inch and they want to take a mile. They have already started up about wanting to take down the Jackson monument as well. Why give in to these sacks of shite? You keep giving in, they'll keep demanding. I can understand the issue with the Liberty Place monument, but give me a break on the rest. Hell the PGT Beauraguard statue is a really nice work of art and does well in its location.
All of this unrest has been caused by a sack of shite mayor who wants to do nothing but spike the ball in front of the people who ran his treasonous sister from office and take eyeballs off the daily crime in the city.
Posted on 5/2/17 at 1:22 pm to Tiger Prawn
Well, the mayor is willing to shoot people.

weird situation all around.

is there a law against carrying at a demonstration? Ive seen some chatter on that floating around but with uncertainty on the application of it to this situation.

I think his name is Dreaux. He has a street named after him, too.
He was the first soldier from New Orleans (or maybe Louisiana) to be killed in the Civil War. I don't know how he has escaped attention when he's only about 100' away from the JD statue. The also used to be a bust of a CSA general at the foot of the Broad St overpass, on the OPP side. I can't remember his name off of the top of my head. I'm not even sure if that statue is still there.

Yes, they DO plan to change the name of the street. Norman Francis avenue is the one Mitch and his peeps want.

This is what's astounding. The Mayor of New Orleans is willing to shoot and kill citizens in order to remove monuments. Let that sink in. The Mayor is willing to use his "power" to ORDER POLICE to shoot and kill people in order to remove a monument.
ummmmm... i always interpreted that move as "just in case someone opens fire on the people removing the statue."
and in that case, it wouldnt be unreasonable to return fire, no?

I agree. Lee deserves a lot more respect than he is being given. Beauregard as well.

That law applies to demonstrations and parades that have a city permit.
