What's the draw to diesel engines?

If I didn't need one for towing I definitely wouldn't have one

For me, its the performance/mileage vs Hemi:

0-60 Hemi = 7.5 sec
1/4m Hemi = 15.7 @ 90mph
17/24 mpg

0-60 Diesel = 7.7 sec
1/4m Diesel = 15.7 @ 84mph
21/28 mpg

A few other points:

Service increments are longer
Lower RPM = less wear
The VM Motori Diesel is rated as the best engine in the world

Of course these aren't slam dunk reasons for everyone, but my budget allowed for the diesel & the technology sold me.

My family has had 3 of them. Not many problems and the ones we had were minor. Like a window motor going out. And a problem with the lift gate.

Had. '95 that my mom got and passed down to little sis when she was in college in '01. Bought it a year old and it ran great. Then she got a 2000 brand new, drove it a few years, then dad drove it, then gave it to me when I graduated grad school in '04. Drove it 3 more years then traded it in on a 2005. I just got rid of it two years ago. Had a blower motor resistor go out on it but that's a cheap quick DIY fix. All ran great well past 100k miles. Just regular maintenance.

Not really a big difference. Grand has 6.3" more hip room, 2.5" less rear leg room, and 7.5 cubic feet more cargo room with all seats in place. That being said I have a 2014 trailhawk Cherokee, and buying the wife a summit with a 3.0l eco diesel 4x4 if the Grand Trailhawk isn't released next year. Great vehicles.

had one pull up to the gas pump next to us Sunday in Port Allen. It caught my eye for sure.
I've never been a Chrysler fan so shaking that bad rep for me is gonna be tough, even though Jordan works pretty tirelessly at it

This is what it looked like.

that mpg is gonna be lost on the $1 more you'll pay for diesel at the pump

eta: and I don't know if those are the same but my oil changes run $150 instead of $30

and fuel filter every other oil change

and 34 other filters that have to be changed
