Horrible planning. Maybe someone in the group will learn that an event with that sort of magnitude takes more than a week to plan.

No one would've guessed it would have spread so quickly he would sell 10000 plates.
You have any idea how hard it is to feed 10k in 2 hrs time if your name isn't Jesus.

They had plenty of stacks at the beginning. They started boxing food I think around 8am. Issue was people who ordered 50-300 plates kept pulling up and quickly depleted the already filled plates. They are filling and handing them out now.

$7 is too cheap imo. $10 would have been a better number.

They didn't think It would get this big. It started with them just raffleing a gun. In one weeks time roughly they have done this. IMO doing the best they can, they just need more people volunteering.

I saw an "announcement" late last week that they were shocked by how fast it grew. Maybe they should have stepped back at that point and postponed it for a few more days to get better readied for it.

Recognizing just some of the cooks that volunteered their time and traveled a long way in some cases, to help out the cause.

Props to the organizers, I have done a charity jambalaya for 1,000 and it was crazy, I can not imagine 10,000. I hope everyone realizes that these people do not do this for a living and are doing the best they can it is not very often you put together a fundraiser of this magnitude

That's what I'm saying.
Hell, for 10,000 most would be planning for at least a couple months.
Hats off to them though, they are making it work.

I can only describe the scene there as organized chaos.

I was really impressed by this. They did an excellent job not making this into a marketing event for them.

This, I was there when they asked channel 33 and 9 to leave the property and denied interviews.

Also arrived shortly after 11:15 and was told that walk ups weren't being served due to the lack of supplies on hand. Needed to fill the pre-orders at that time. Donated some money and rolled out to city pork for some 25 on 25 libations.
These peoples hearts were in the right place with this fund raiser so all is good.

Well stated. A huge thank you to United Rentals and everyone associated with putting the event together. It benefited a great cause and made this out-of-stater proud.

According to one of my buds social media accounts (he helped organize this)
He just posted right at 12,000 plates were sold.

Impressive to get that quantity of food out on short notice. Those guys and gals did the best they could. I know there are several folks still out delivering food. I applaud them for their efforts.
