so you honestly think that force shouldn't be allowed in defense of your person when another violently attacks you and tries to take your gun?

I REALLY hope you get robbed. This was clearly justified and I'm glad he's dead.

This is why I stay the frick out of Jafrica.
Parts of it is actually not that bad. The city spend a ton of money trying to get middle class people back into the city. The night scene (bar/restaurants) in the Fondrin district is pretty nice (NE side of jackson). The S-SW side of Jackson I wouldn't go to. I've had an investigator for the PD's office tell me there are places he won't go without a vest at 2PM and works to help the accused.

I would bet majority of the really really shitty crimes are all done by a small percentage of the really really shitty people.... that all already have extensive criminal records
there is a meme called something like the 3% problem, where half of all murders are committed by a 3% slice of the population (young black, and male). that stat isn't implying that every person in that demo is violent or a killer, just that half of all murderers in the US are from that 3% demo. it's striking

Not familiar with this case at all.
Man comes out of building brandishing a .38 cal revolver. Gotta ask why? What was his intent to do with it? This shows a willingness to use the gun...thus premeditation. The 17 year old is afraid and fears for his life...so he does the only thing he can to protect himself...(the car owner was chasing him) so he attacks the man with the gun. In the struggle the kid gets killed. A homicide was committed. An investigation was conducted. Charges were brought. At no time was the car owner in imminent/immediate danger/threat of his life. Car owner made a lot of mistakes. My guess it will be plead down from Murder 1 to some kind of manslaughter. He gonna be in a heap of trouble. Will be surprised if he 'walks'

you made a comment earlier that it wasn't justifiable
are you now trying to crawfish and claim you don't have the information to make that judgment? if not, you can answer my question

Best not think that in Texas.

If she does, I'd like to see him file counter suit against her for being a shite mother and for damages to his vehicle and for all of his legal bills. Kid was a minor. If she had been worth a damn as a parent and saw to it that his arse got in the juvey building instead of letting him roam about to find a car to steal, this whole thing wouldn't have happened.
My guess is, as this unravels, autopsy report with inventory of his personal belongings will show he had a knife and we'll also see that he did things that justified being charged as an adult and going to prison, not juvey.

Carrying does not equal brandishing. Also, it's not illegal to brandish a weapon, even if he did. The fact that he chased the guy around the car and waited until the perp charged him tell me he didn't intend on going out to shoot him. If I walk out of a building with the intent to kill someone, I'm just going to shoot them, not play run around the car and play tag and then do so.

This case is possibly the last straw for Jackson. White people, and more importantly, white business owners are watching this very closely.
Moreover, as an important aside, Jxn has a mayoral election this year that will likely elect young radical Antar Lumumba as mayor.
So, you have a man defending his life and property, using deadly force (legally) indicted for MURDER (premeditated)by what one can imagine as a majority black grand jury, handled by a black assistant DA that will be tried by a majority black jury.
Even if he wins, he will be financially ruined in all likelihood.
If he is convicted of anything, one can assume if you are white and kill someone, even in self defense in Jackson, you will be ruined.
50 years from now, 2017 will be viewed as the moment the dam broke in Jxn. It's been bad...but there was a rule of law. There are now two sets of laws...black and white.

So I'm the resident crack head now?
And actually I made this thread to get more insight than I had before I made it. Knowing there are several lawyers from Jackson on this board... and I'm not being some dick to any one involved. Sorry if I do know the person charged and do wish they he doesn't spend the rest of his life in prison considering I know how much his grandkids adore him.... go suck start a shotgun you frickkng mutt

You should be a fiction writer.

Spot on and it's sad. Jackson is where I was born and where I spent every holiday for the first 20 years or so of my life. All of my family has moved away and I totally understand why. Still makes me sad what the city has become.

This is total bullshite. A man should be allowed to use deadly force to protect his property. I'll be surprised if he does time but he'll likely be ruined financially. Just total fricking bullshite.
