As a former smoker, we got some damn pansies, snowkflakes, bitches, or whatever you wanna call it nowadays. As far as the cancer part goes, I agree, yes, it does increase your odds of getting cancer. In 2017, most, not all, but most people are way more cognizant of other's around them in public about smoking. Most smokers stand off and get away from people.

I'm in the public everyday all day and very seldom come into 2nd hand smoke, when I do, I don't act like a lil bitch. Most smokers I know don't smoke in their house, I never did either. They have whitening for yellow teeth and for the most part isn't a problem. Most smokers in this day and age know the stigma that follows them regarding it. The majority of the one's I work with or just personally know try not to smell like an ashtray all the time, whether they put on cologne or use mouthwash.

I agree, you shouldn't be smoking right next to your kids, but just the occasional walking by a dude smoking a cigarette isn't gonna give you lung cancer. You stupid broke back bitches.

And mind your own damn business regarding smokers and quit acting like the twice a year you smell a cigarette all of a sudden a smoker's life becomes your business.

I'm glad I quit smoking btw, been several years. Haven't looked back. Heard a guy a few months back bashing smokers b/c of "how 2nd hand smoke affects other people around them" in a gay arse voice. He later got in his car and drove off drunk. Bunch of damn hypocrites

So the answer is banning a substance you don't like? The general unhealthiness of Americans stems more from fatty foods and sodas more than cigarettes. But hey let's ban those things too if they cause insurance rates to rise. This country is turning into the plotline of Demolition Man. Let's ban things that are bad for us because people can't be left to make choices on their own.

My great grandfather quit smoking at 97. He lived to be 104. I went to what my mom said was going to be his last birthday party 16 times

Some people only read what they want to read. I clearly said that eating a hamburger does not affect the life of a child 2 feet away. But when there's a crowd of rednecks smoking outside the door of Academy, it absolutely affects the rights of non smokers such as children.

Genetics my man. One size doesn't fit all. My GF retired at 65. Had physical for key man policy. Doc said no more bourbon, cigars, cigarettes or red meat, it would kill him within 5years. His day started at 4am. At 3pm he was at the Club enjoying beer, old forester, cigarettes and conversation. He had a rare steak with trimmings then more bourbon or cognac and a cigar or two. He did this everyday of his life since he was in his 30s. The Dr was right, it finally killed him at 96. Doc was long dead, along with his silly health advice.

My great grandmother smoked a pack a day since she was 12.

She died of lung cancer...at 92.

80 years of a pack a day. Hell I'd love to live to 92, and she enjoyed every damn day.

I'm not a daily smoker but I'll enjoy one after a fine meal or other "pleasures".

Did I say it should be illegal to smoke?

And I'm speaking generally about all smokers, not inserting myself into a specific person's life. Stop being an oversensitive little bitch

My parents both died from cancer, but that was before anti smoking was in vogue.

With that said, smoking is a sign of weakness.

Excess smoking, yes, but a non addictive, infrequent smoke while drinking is very nice

I was replying to your post where you were talking about higher insurance premiums because of smokers. My response is that fatty foods and sodas are causally linked with obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease, heart attacks and strokes. All of these conditions are likely more responsible for the rise in healthcare costs than smoking.

If you think people shouldn't smoke because of externality costs, the same logic can be applied to fast food, candy, sodas, sports drinks and a host of other unhealthy items. You would call that protecting the public health, I'd call it fascism.

I was mostly referring to the way people in general act towards smokers, not you in particular. Stop crying

Then keep your spawn in your home till they're old enough to be exposed to life. If passing a group of smokers outside a store endangers a kids life, probably best to lose them anyway. Christ, this is Louisiana. The ambient air is toxic enough to kill them.

It's the non smokers fault all the burners have to congregate in one area anyway. You asked for it.

Well walking through the parking lot of running vehicles is much worse. You will get your occasional retard that stands there smoking all up in the way but most of them are standing away from the entrance while smoking.
