I guess there's a reason the term "better-half" was coined in reference to one's spouse. But I'm really curious who, based on empirical evidence, honestly and realistically believes their spouse is a better person than them.

Moralistically, ethically ...things like that.

I think I'm a generally good person, but my wife is so much more so than I am (from what I know, of course)

Anyway, she's always doing selfless things for the people in our lives. She's insanely thoughtful and generous and sometimes, I feel like a total scumbag a-hole in comparison to her compassion and understanding.

Anyway, I assume nobody willingly or at least consciously married a dud or raving sociopath, but now that you've had some time with this person through good and bad -- have your impressions changed.

Are they the better person or are you?

Definitely, she's amazing in every way. I'm only amazing in about 5 ways.

Yes. He is a much better person than me. Always does the right thing. Me...not so much.

I feel like this describers her to the T.

However, I believe it comes from a good bit of naivety. I read the news for frequently, am much more aware of my surroundings and pay attention to history a lot more. I believe this knowledge leads me to my actions/feelings towards other people, countries, etc.

For instance, no, I will not give food to this able-bodied hobo because I believe it would be better off in my belly because I don't piss away my life with horrible choices.

So I guess it's more of an opinion of whether or not she's a better person or is just more charitable/empathetic. Sometimes I worry it could get her in trouble one day which is why I'm always stressing personal awareness.

Yes. Especially at keeping the kids schedules and guiding them through issues they have at school and with peers. And household management.

I'd never keep up.

Yes. I know it's gay, but I'm so lucky to have her. I'm an old ornery frick. She's a sweet, genuine lady.

Put it this way, I wouldn't be with me.

No.

I love the guy, but no. He can be a dick I can't be mad at people. There's a girl who told me she hopes I die and called me a whore and said she hates me just a few months ago. But she's been nice to me the past few weeks, so I'm friendly with her.

Jones thinks I'm insane. I just can't be mad at people.

He also gets way angrier at strangers than me. I always like to think "Well, maybe they did that annoying thing because they're having a bad day" or whatever.

He is an AMAZING friend and huge animal-rescuer though.
