Is Obesity a Disability

Prompted by a discussion with my friend pioneerbaseball.
So my buddy pioneerbaseball (not his real name) stopped by last night to borrow some toilet paper and show me his girlfriend's Cocker Spoodle. We hadn't chatted in a while, so we grabbed some beers (I gave him an expired beer I am trying to unload) and went out to the back patio.
His girlfriend left town on a girls trip so he offered to watch the dog in the hopes he could possibly get laid (they haven't done it yet).
He's had the dog for a few days and has nothing but good things to say about it. I thought the dog was great and looked like Benji.

Functionally it can leave someone disabled.

I can understand if you have health problems.
Its another thing if you are lazy.

It's a lot like when my little brother went through his foot-fetish phase and he was always borrowing my computer to look up foot porn. Yeah we thought about having an intervention for him but we just couldn't explain to my mother how foot-porn could be a real addiction. She just kept saying "he's not drinking or smoking the foot porn, how could he be addicted?". So in the end we didn't do any dramatic intervention or send him off to a rehab or anything but I still feel like maybe we should have. Anyway he eventually grew up and grew out of it, got a pretty nice job working for the state now. Pay isn't the greatest but the benefits are above average and you can't beat the vacation schedule.

CSB?
Obesity is not a disability. Consequences of obesity can be a disability.

Anecdotally, a lot of super obese appear to have mental health issues.
Chubby people are lazy.

Personally, I hope the courts and legislators resist making obesity a disability. However, I think it is going to happen (which will be good for my business).

A few observations from your post:
1. Your "friend" pioneerbaseball is either incredibly poor or lazy or both if he has to borrow toilet paper. Ofcourse I hope he doesn't bring it back to you.
2. Pioneerbaseball is in the friend zone and will never have sex with this girl. No one watches a dog, or picks up from the airport unless you are just considered a friend, or you are already in an intimate relationship. He's probably going to help her move oneday..... move in to her real boyfriend's house. Just saying.
To answer your question:
Obesity shouldn't be a disability

This reminds of a time when I was in elementary school riding in the back of my parents car. We were driving through a neighborhood (low income but no the worst place in the world). To this day i swear i saw a monkey (actually a chimpanzee) hanging from the eve of one of the houses. No one believed me and as I grow older, even I have begun to question the experience.

If the person is in control of their weight and able to do things to reduce it, no it's not a disability. However, a minority of obese people do have pre-obesity health problems that have caused them to become obese or make them unable to keep weight off. I'll stress that it's a minority though, most obese people don't deserve to be considered disabled
