Slowing down is actually probably the safest thing to do. While being petty as well.

I move over and let them pass, then I jump back in the lane and get 6 inches from their arse. They can count the bug splatters on my hood. They can also read my lips when I say, "How you like me now, mother fricker!

I usually try and let them pass. You never know their situation. I was trying to get my son to the hospital Monday afternoon, and frickers decided they would do 2 below the speed limit. I rode their arse a bit.

I'm pretty sure I broke about 19 traffic laws the night I was taking my son to the Children's ER. There was one car I was about to pull a Nascar on and give them a little bump if they didn't move. The emergency flashers, flipping my high beams at them, and laying on the horn apparently didn't register with them to get out of the left lane of I-65 going 45MPH.

To answer the OP, I drive a Jeep, so I'm rarely in the left or passing lane on interstates. I move over if I can, and if it isn't going to stick me in a line of cars and not let me get back over. Surface streets, forget it. I'm usually in the lane of my next turn if it is a multi-lane road. I also don't have to brake check. Just downshift and lay off the gas. If they want a bumper full of a trailer hitch, let them run into me.

The e-flash trick is the best.

No loss of momentum for you, and they freak.

I vary my speed up and down 5 mph. That usually makes tailgating too much effort.

My brakes have a little play in them, so I can give it a little tap and not actually engage the brake. I drive with both feet (habit from driving a forklift for years) so this is pretty easy to do when someone is being a dick. I wouldn't actually hit the brake considering that person is most likely an idiot who can't drive to save their lives, much less mine. I am a very friendly and defensive driver, I expect the same from all people on the road.

Yes, I enjoy all aforementioned methods of being a dick driver.

Slow down, put on left turn blinker, do not turn left.

If someone is following to close or honking honking their horn at me, I make their life miserable. I'm a good driver. I pride myself on that. I drive safe and at reasonable speed. If someone has the mindset to try to cause anxiety to me because of their failed perception on how things should be, I make sure to punish them and everyone behind them. I'll drive 10-20 miles under the speed limit on 2-lane roads and I'll pause to let every car in front of me and I'll slow down at green lights until they turn yellow and I'll speed up to make it and leave them in the dust.

I don't ever brake check them, however, if I'm in the mood, I'll box them in and pretend not to notice

I like to swerve a little to the right and catch some gravel on the side of the road. That backs them off in a hurry.

If someone is tailgating closely on a surface street, I'll usually just brake-check them or ignore them.

My favorite is if I am in the outside lane on the interstate, the inside lane is completely empty and some arse-monkey rides up on my bumper. I've dropped down to damned near idling just to force some shitbag like that to pass me.

I flip on all my flashing lights if I'm in the company truck and come to a complete stop and get out and act like I'm checking something in the road.
