I'd like to place a couple of these around the house, by the front door, next to my computer, etc. Do you think they'd be effective in deterring a thief--maybe inducing a heart attack even?

I think so too. Imagine the screams of the terrified intruder, as he imagines the poisonous fangs tearing into his arm.

Drunk guy walked into my daughter's house in the middle of the night and passed out on the couch. I had opened the door for her to come in since it was so late. Would have died if I'd shot him right off the bat. But an actual break-in- I say at least fire a warning.

"...before you call the police, drag him into your house".
I had a detective tell me "don't drag them in. Call me and I'll help you carry 'em in"

What's the statistical likelihood that you'll know the intruder? I'm thinking it's fairly high.

So, he said, if you shoot someone who is trying to break into your house but they aren't actually in your house yet, before you call the police drag them into your house and shoot them again there.

One of the ADAs that probably worked for your guy told me to never tamper with the scene if I were to shoot someone in my house. Even Baton Rouge has forensic people that will determine exactly what happened. For example you would never be able to find or clean up all the blood splatter outside the house, but they will.

I probably wouldn't just start blasting without knowing for sure I was dealing with a bonafide intruder. But thats me, I'm not motherfricking William Muney, like most of you badasses.

I was staying with people and accidentally opened the wrong front door of someone else's apartment in a number mix up. Should I have been shot on the spot?

Perfectly acceptable unless you are an off-dutu cop. Then you are scum of the earth.

My Papaw, that today would've been his 89th birthday, always said keep a birdshot first. By chance that didn't scare them away, buckshot was always next up.

It's crazy how someone you barely got to know leaves thoughts behind that you think of all the time.
