Imagine how much more advanced we would be as a society if we didn't have those 3 religions holding back the world. Imagine not having to fight wars with one another because one religion's group is sitting on top a shite ton of oil.

Yeah it isn't like anyone died in history at the hands of christians for thinking that the Earth wasn't flat, or the Earth wasn't the center of the universe. Religion totally isn't holding us back right?

Are you laughing at the notion that we were all born of sin because of Adam?

No, I was laughing at the idea in general where religions make up a problem then suggest that they're the only group with a solution to said problem.

I do take issue with Christianity's original sin, though. It'd take a bit of thought to come up with a more immoral system - where someone is born into a "burn for all eternity" sentence through no control of their own (just being born). Sure, there's "salvation", but there really isn't. It's no coincidence that in the vast majority of the cases children grow up to adopt their parents religion. No Christian parents? Yea, you're pretty much fricked. Enjoy burning for all eternity!

The only people who think that this is a just system are the people who've been brain washed into this religion to begin with. Childhood indoctrination is very powerful. I never really thought about the horrors in the Old Testament until I was in my 20s. When they're told in a positive manner pretty much from birth its really hard to see anything wrong with drowning the entire world, killing children in the 10th plague, etc.

Great apes have 24 chromosomes. We have 23. There is a THEORY that 2 or ours merged and became 1. That THEORY is subject to much speculation. However, as I said earlier, I personally believe in evolution. But the “if this happened they are alike” theory doesn’t prove anything to me. Do a little more research. Regardless, Believe it if you like. I’m out.

now you deny history books written by God and Jesus

I'm fairly certain that all history books, including the Bible, were written by ordinary men.

That most definitely does not apply to me.

You know what we are?

A tube. You break it down to the most basic levels we are just a fricking piece of sentient macaroni.

A mouth and an a-hole.

We eat and we shite.

And really, shitting is just an end to the main game...consuming. We consume. We destroy. That’s what animals do.

We are destroyers, fundamentally. And plants take what we destroy and recreate it. That’s the cycle. We kill and they bloom.

Now, if you want to delve deeper, and watch how it all gets crazy...you start adding to the inexplicable noodles we are.

So because we are the destroyers, look at history. The sword has always evolved to beat the shield. So the things we destroy develop ways to outwit us. (I’m using the Royal We here. All non-plant kind.)

And thus we develop better ways to destroy. The shield gets harder, the sword gets teeth.
It gets faster, We get fins.
It grows higher, we grow legs.
On and on in a constant battle.

But The better we get at it, so do others. And so it’s not just the plants we have to outwit in our appetite for destruction, it’s the rest of us.

And so the strong feed upon the weak.

It’s the way of things.

And eventually one stands alone. The killer of all. The penultimate destroyer.

And so we stand alone, and destroy ourselves.

And eventually, we’ll be food for the plants again.

The theory is that two of theirs merged into one for us. And don't capitalize a word you don't understand. Theory, in science, is as high as an idea can reach.

Our 2nd chromosome is 100% the result of a merger, there is no debating this. There are telomeres at the center and it has two centromeres. Chromosomes do not end up that way without a merger.

Stfu

There is no debate on this within the scientific community. The only people who have a problem with this are creationists. That's the side you're falling on. The "evidence on both sides" is scientific evidence and willfully ignorance on the creationists side of the fence.

They really hate this fact, because not only does it prove evolution but they've always maintained that evolution cannot be a theory because it's not predictive, it makes no predictions.

Actually it does, the theory of evolution predicted this merger of chromosomes once we saw the chromosomal difference (46 vs 48) between humans and the great apes. This prediction was made decades prior to our genome being mapped.

Once we mapped our genome and the genomes of the great apes this prediction was confirmed.

Exactly. The idea that there is "evidence on both sides" is ludicrous.

It is simply not true. Science has a ridiculous amount of evidence, enough for it to be considered fact.

The other side has none whatsoever.

You mean like the muscles needed for a tail?
