I'm really digging my new Maratac Pilot. Only costs half the budget as well.

Noticed this one on the Citizen website. I think I may pick one up. Maybe a NATO strap too.

I just got a reactor atom a while back.

Haven't had it long enough to comment on how well it will hold up, but it seems well built. The neverdark feature is extremely badass. This bastard is BRIGHT

The only reason to buy a watch in todays world is if you are going to buy a real nice watch that can be passed down and you cant do that with $500.00. I would use my iPhone or either buy a $50.00 watch for activities that you want to do and not carry a phone and I would save my money.

I liked my Citizen, but I dropped it from chest height onto a table (stupid mistake while trying to put it on and not paying attention) and it ceased to function after that. Didn't hit too hard. I could easily see bumping into a door or a wall with it on my wrist and causing the same shock force. Wasn't worth working on it.

I agree here. I picked up a Citizen 2 years ago right after Christmas. I was working in the office at the time, so it was a very lite duty wear. It looks like I worked on a car with it. The crystal cracked, the bezel wont rotate, and the casing is scratched completely over. My 15 year old $90 Fossil from college looks better than my 2 year old Citizen.

I've seen some other very nice Citizen watches, but very hesitant to buy one because of my experience.

Or maybe you just want a $500 nice watch

I like having a watch that looks nice and can handle swimming in the river, unlike my iPhone without a tether.

Shinola. Good looking watches and more unique than the typical $500 watches (doubt the quality is any better than a timex). $500 is kind of the no mans land between the 100-200 dollar watches and the $1000+ watches. Not that much of a quality difference bw 100-200 dollar range and the $500 watches.

It's always a gump...

This Omega wasn't anything special in the late 1950's when it was made. A working man's watch. Still keeps great time all these decades later with little maintenance. Every sub-$500 mechanical Seiko will do that these days

Whatever you do don't buy a fashion company watch. You are paying for a label, not for craftmanship. Buy a watch company watch.

ETA: Burberry and Michael Kors watches are made by Fossil. They're cheap fashion statements.

What can you tell me about these watches? I really like this one. The full size seems to be 46 mm and the mid size is 39 mm. I wish they had one between the two. 46 just seems too large for me. I love the look though.
