pedal, not peddle

And most cyclists would *love* to have a path that is safe. Unfortunately sidewalks aren't it - they are built for pedestrians and in most places it is illegal to bike there.

Cyclists would probably very much support dedicated bike lanes.

I really need to proofread more

Like I said. Not arguing legality of where to ride a bike. But to argue that a busy roadway with cars heading in both directions at a high rate of speed is safer than a sidewalk where you might encounter one or two people is asinine.

Spandex Sally rides her little schwinn and collides with a pedestrian on the sidewalk. Sally falls over, gets her knee scraped, the Walkers foot gets run over and bruised.

Now spandex Sally and her schwinn collide with a (for sakes of the argument) a tiny arse smart car going 45 mph. Now, spandex Sally is in the hospital with a broken neck. And smart car Steve has to get a new vehicle.

The walker sues Sally and wins.

And smart car Steve also could face jail time and thousands of dollars of fines.

Again, frick you.

One of the "share the road" spaces in the Shreveport area was also a main thoroughfare for oil field trucks during the oil boom. I did note that the cyclists stopped hogging the entire lane when the big trucks came around.

Saw two cycling douchebags riding on the Bert Kouns Industrial Loop - in the driving lane.

The cyclists riding on 175 between the Port of Shreveport and Frierson have actually been courteous and sharing the road for the last few years.

I regularly hit 30mph, and have touched 40 on my bike. Average 22+ while moving on flat ground easily in a group. I think we may be talking about a different type of cyclist. Getting lumped in with the hobo riding down Perkins is not the same as what I do. Most "cyclist" going for a workout have no desire to be in a heavy traffic area. No one wants the starting and stopping. But, a cyclist can be on a rural road following all laws while being courteous, and a driver will still hold a grudge against them.

Simple fact remains, cars and bikes follow the rules, nobody gets hurt.

Yep. I'm someone who champions darwinism. I say the same for dumbasses who die not wearing a seat belt. Or dumbfricks who take Xanax and go drink to "have a good time". I champion the deaths of idiots and retards of all ages, race, Creed, etc. In which way they met their end means not, all that matters is the gene pool is a little better off.

We absolutely are. My problem is with the dumbfricks who ride down busy roads at rush hour "because they can".

Cyclists out on rural roads like river road, I give them far more room than they need. They are good people. They aren't being jackasses.

So you consider yourself equal to a jungle predator when interacting with cyclists? Interesting analogy you have there.

quote:

Or am I the one who put myself in this position by putting myself in the jungle?
Buzzing a cyclist is 100% optional and requires you to consciously make that cihoice to act. That is entirely your choice. Nothing a cyclist does forces you to act like an arse and endanger his life. Unless you consider yourself no more inteligent than a jungle animal.
