So I'm building a new house and it's slated to be ready April 1. The house we have now has a purchase agreement in place and closing is set for April 8. What would you do?

1. Get a pod and spend the next 30 days slowly packing all your crap in it and then have it dropped off on the moving date?

2. Pack a bunch of shite in boxes, wait until the moving date and get a bunch of friends over to move room by room over to the new place?

3. Hire a company to come and pack everything, pick up everything, bring it all to the new house and then unpack it all?

Combo of the 2? Other suggestions?

Combination of two and three. I don't trust movers with delicate and/or valuable things. So I box those and move them myself. Everything else, you hire someone. It's worth the money to not have to do any of the heavy lifting.

Top stressful things in personal lives:
In no particular order
1. Death of close relative
2. Going through divorce
3. Getting fired from a job
4. Moving

1 or 3. If you are out of college you shouldn't be asking friends to help you move because like you said everyone hates moving crap.

Like, is there any companies that will come to your house and pack everything up and then just bring it all over to the new place? I've spent the last few weekends moving some shite around the attic. We have a pod and I've probably filled it about halfway - but frick this. I want somebody else to come do all this.

How much would something like that cost? Like come box up the kitchen, move all the clothes and couches.

Everything. I completely hate this shite.

Pack everything you can in boxes, starting about two weeks prior to the first. Out of season clothes as well. Last time we moved I hired movers for furniture and everything we had boxed up. I was just going to move fragile things and clothing in my SUV. The movers had all the furniture and boxes done in two trips and about 3.5 hours. I spent 6 more hours moving stuff a load at a time. I wish I has spent the time a few days prior just boxing clothes up. They sell nice clothing boxes with a bar in them so you can just hang them up. Get a roll of bubble wrap for your plates and fragile stuff and box it as well.

I've also helped my in laws move with a rental truck and while you can save some money going that route there will be so much going on moving day it is nice to just cut a check and not risk hurting yourself trying to move large furniture if you're not used to that.

We moved almost 2 years ago. I packed tons of boxes of things that I need but not at that point. We knew the people we were buying from SO they let us put a ton of it in the pool house.

When it came time to MOVE, oh hell I told my husband I wasn't doing any more ... HE wanted to move so he called some movers. Best $600 ever spent. We only moved .5 mile away and they packed no boxes. Moved my stuff around a couple of times in the new home.

Abitafan08 has it right. There's a lot of shite you want to pack yourself, but let the big boys lug your sofa. Etc.

If you have the money, nothing beats a good moving company doing it all. A crappy moving company on the other hand is the worst option. I don't know any referrals so can't help there.

When my company moved me to Austin, the moving company came in, boxed everything up and unpacked everything and set it all up in Austin. Didn't break anything. I didn't lift a finger. It was awesome.

I think I boxed and drove my computer because I was a bit nervous about it, but all my breakables were fine with the moving company.

Right here... I don't expect my friends to move my shite, and I have absolutely zero interest in trying to move tables and couches with my wife.

ETA- Well, not exactly. If it's a local move I'll take the boxes myself.
