I don't know when my mood changed. Maybe when I stopped drinking and partying. Maybe when the kids got too old to enjoy catching beads.
I don't know what it is. I used to love Mardi gras. Used to catch metairie and nola parades in the same night. I used to like the bands and seeing the float designs.

Sometime in my mid 30s my mood changed. Mardi gras became time to vacation out the city. Then covid came and paused Mardi gras. (I had skipped 2020 to vacation)
Everything is back this year and I don't think I even want to do Endymion this year.

How do you feel about Mardi gras and if you feel blah about it now, why?

The person who is tired of Mardi Gras is tired of life. Or was it Paris? No, “The person who is tired of Mardi Gras is tired of Paris” makes no sense at all.

I plan to never go to another parade. Been over Mardi Gras for 15+ years.

Having parades stop because people are stupid and getting killed plus covid and the uptick in crime killed it for us.

Since my early 40s, my only impetus to go to Mardi Gras parades is if I am taking out of towners for their first parades. Even then I tend to stay fairly sober so I can herd the cats that don't know their way around and what to do and not do.

I used to see people post stuff like that on here and think they were crazy. Mardi Gras is the best thing ever. But then my mood changed. Maybe it was my old roommate getting shot while in a port a let a few years back.
I don't know.

It's just not the same. With NOLA for sure it's the crime and having to worry about my vehicle getting smashed into. (I've replaced 6 windows from break ins since 2000)

With metairie is also the new route to away my familiar spots and the crowds are so sparse. Unless you are with a group they are harder to enjoy.

Because at 48 years old, I do not want to hang out with the 20 year old me.

And I would rather be at the camp

2018 was the last straw. I got a ticket for doing 10 over on a nearly empty Earhart expressway from a State Trooper heading into the city with my family on Mardi Gras day.

When I returned home I saw that there were degenerates on I-10 on ATVs and Motorcycles blocking the highway at the same time.

I don’t much care for them anymore either. We brought the kids to the Parade in Metairie last night, and they had a blast. To me, that’s what it’s all about.

Eve went right in front of our neighborhood and we didn't go.

We went to the push mow parade in Abita and it was fun for the kids.

We went to Olympia because we had a spot to stand and park right on the route. The kids (2&4) liked seeing the floats. They didn't catch anything at Olympia because there were these little shithead preteens trampling all the kids around.

I've had my fill.

Earhart Expressway exists only to make funds for state troopers. No way the speed limit should be the exact same limit as Airline which has lights and multiple turn offs. Make no sense
