Hurricane drones. Nice.

Saw a microwave pass and Maria looks a little better tonight in terms of symmetry. Window is closing fast for much strengthening though. Hopefully she stays off the east coast, as it looks like she should now.

Saw that on the both the Euro and GFS ensembles. Looks like she'll get very close to the Outer Banks area before the quick move to the ENE. How far inland she'll get, if at all, will be interesting.

Jose is fading fast, farther westward shifts in the models seem likely at this point.

3 and I doubt we make a run too much higher than minimum 4 before weakening.

Shear lightening up some today but only for a bit. Maria still lopsided with the convection. Not to say she's not still quite a stout storm, but the horror show of a 5 isn't in the cards anymore for her.

Are we sure this isn't going to defy all the laws of physics and head into the gulf making a direct hit on Louisiana?

Got a message from my buddy that was going to Puerto Rico to find, and retrieve his kids. He was able to rent an SUV at the airport. He got to his ex's house and found them all OK. The house had minimal water damage. He drove one hour after finding them to find cell signal.

They fly home, with dad, tomorrow.

OBX just gets a brush and she gets ejected hard to the east. Degree of brush still a question.
