Cantore has probably been working his hurricane voodoo doll hard. Quiet season thus far.

none of the reliable models do anything with it.
Just for fun here are the intensity from some global models I believe they are.

This would be the "F" storm, if it develops. Really nothing pointing towards it developing at this point but it does look rather healthy on sat. Also, shear that has been above normal is forecast to decrease in the coming days as the wave moves westward.

Water temps are basically near normal until you reach the Western Gulf. So this might have some chance at development.

my TV was on The Weather Channel when I got home this evening... they had to bust out the Andrew tapes to remind us that a slow start doesn't always mean no dangerous storms

Andrew was a monster, what is crazy is it almost completely died out but it survived then the conditions improved and the rest as they say is history.
