Parents live in Port Lavaca TX, I am wondering if I should tell them to evacuate or they will be good to stay in the house. Area usually doesnt flood but we live near the coast.
Any suggestions?

Wait on Peej's opinion and do the opposite.

How old are they? If elderly I wouldn't take any chances.

to be fair, my parents worked their arse off in port lavaca so that I can go to A&M and live in the bay area.
So screw off

Wait, your living is paid for by both your inlaws and your own parents? Do you even work?

I wouldn't evacuate because my kid told me I should after asking on a message board.

Why do your parents dislike you so much?

Depends on available resources. They could be without power for awhile... do they have a generator?
Posted on 8/23/17 at 2:29 pm to fareplay
I would check the hurricane thread.

No generator. I am thinking Houston isnt going to be much better.
I dont get local news but Ive heard they suggest avoiding once it becomes cat 2

This is such an A&M kind of response.

Easy typing mistake for you:

What exactly do you mean by this? Across the street from the water or a mile inland could both be considered "near the coast."
At this point, we don't know much about the wind. At a category one, maybe they would be OK, but no one here could ever know that without knowing any of the variables.

Water is 50 feet from my parents house

Doubt storm surge and wind would be deadly but they could be stranded in the flood waters around them. Keep a close eye on the weather reports and the OT thread. I'd ride it out but I'm 26. People up there in age may not want to do that
