As I sit in the Belagio poker room reading TD, I think the last time I was in BR the game was kinda soft. Your friend should do well if he has any skills at all.

One time this Asian dude came to the table I was on. He sits down and clearly has the most chips (in value) than anyone else at the table. After every flop he would push all in, everyone folds and bought about 4 or 5 straight hands..

Everyone was just letting this dude eat away at everyone's chips so I said frick it.. He went all in and I called. I won, double up and it didn't even put a dent in his stack.

A few hands later I called him again and beat him. The next hand someone else calls him and they beat him.. And you can see he was getting pissed. A few hands go buy and I decided to do it again. I won. I beat him with like a pair of 8s while he had high card. Dude grabs his stack and looks at me and said "you play stupid. You got lucky and didn't get your pair until the turn" I said something like "so would you recommend I go to a table, go all in every hand and try to buy pots?" and he told me something along with "frick you". As he walked off I yelled "I appreciate you donating to my stack".

He goes off, but is still visible talking with another Asian and kept looking at the table. These dudes at the table were all like "let him try to do something to you!" and this one kind of drunk dude was like "yeah, that mother fricker came to this table and thought he was going to just take out money, but we let him know".. and I am thinking "mother fricker.. I let him know and the only other person to call him one time... was not you".. but anyway, got carried away with that story.

And lousy fiction at that.

For the OP:
1. A lot depends on the game - they deal limit hold'em and no limit hold'em every day, pretty much all day. The limit game is probably similar to what your cousin plays at home. Minimum buy-in is low (maybe $20), and the maximum bet is usually $8. Play for 5 hours and win or lose $75

2. The no-limit game is tougher. Some are every-day regulars trying to book a $300-500 win. Minimum buy-in is still low - maybe $40. It's not uncommon for someone to win $500-1000 in the no-limit games. Usually if someone wins $1000 in this game he cashes out.

3. Occasionally there is a PLO game at L'Auberge. If your cousin doesn't know what PLO stands for, he doesn't need to sit at that table. Minimum buy-in is usually $200, but most players buy in for at least $1000 when the game starts. It's a rare night that someone doesn't lose or win $3-5k, and it's not uncommon to see $500 and $1000 chips in the larger pots.

In all the above-described games the players pretty much all know each other (at least by first name) and know a little (maybe a lot, depending on how many times they've played together a lot) about the other players' tendencies. This could be a benefit or a handicap for the OP's cousin.

So much wrong information in the above post.

They only play poker Wednesday-Sunday. They normally run 2 1/3 NL games with 1 limit game. If they have enough dealers, they will start a 4th game during the week which is normally another 1/3 NL game or 1/3 PLO game with a mandatory button straddle.

The minimum buy in for the regular NL game is $100 but I would not sit down with less than $300 if it’s at night. On the PLO game, you likely want at least 1k. They normally have really good games with pretty solid players overall. It’s rare you find easy money.

There is a bad beat jackpot that is around 350k. That alone is worth going play for.

For the more anal among the posters, I should have said they play those lower limit games every night the poker "room" is open.

For your edification, they start the PLO game every time they (a) have enough dealers and (b) a phone call is made to the floor person indicating there are enough players lined up on "the list." I'm guessing you haven't been on that list very many times.

I have been playing online gambling for a long time now. I used to spend hours on the computer, but now it is often impossible to find a good platform for that. It is also difficult to find online casinos that actually offer great bonuses and promotions. The best way to gamble is online because I am always at home and feel totally relaxed. I do not like going out in the evening and spending money on gambling just for fun.

I used to be good friends with a guy in college who would clean up online in the early days. One summer he told me he won $30K and didn't have to work a part time job between school.

Our Junior year, he went to Vegas and tried his luck. He never talked about it but we were told he got cleaned out badly by "real" players.

I never tried to play at the casinos because I figured I'd totally be outmatched.

Just don’t bluff and play good hands your first few times, you will be fine if you have a large enough stack
