re: How solar power could slay the fossil fuel empire by 2030

The US economy is based on the petro dollar. What would replace it?
Something new, better, more equitable for the masses. A more local, regional grassroots economy. The current system is top heavy and unsustainable. More economic power in the hands of everyday people is healthy and long overdue.

Over the last year Seba has even been invited to share his vision with oil and gas executives in the US and Europe. “Essentially, I’m telling them you’re out of business in less than 15 years,” Seba said.
This sounds like the kind of rubbish that would come out of Al Gore's mouth.

horseshite. The BEST experimental solar cells are barely 20% efficient.
Panasonic and SunPower both have panels over 20% efficiency. Many commercial jobs just use the same panels as residential so why would the efficiency be half that? But no, there is no such thing as a 93% efficient solar panel, but I don't think that's what he meant as he states in his next post. He meant 93% of the energy is provided by solar, but you went back to efficiency. Read first, then type your angry post with your oily fingers

Imagine if solar panels get 4x more efficient than they are now.
You could have them on top of every roof, with arrays in many neighborhoods, and then local clusters every few miles or so. On top of that you'd have big solar plants for regional production.
Like mentioned earlier, the plastic and rubber demanded would still be an issue.

I really hope this doesn't happen.
With the exponential growth of solar energy, the sun will be depleted faster.
I think everyone will be begging for fossil fuels when a red giant sun consumes the earth, then turns into a black hole and destroys the universe because we used up all its energy for our iPhones.

Don't see that happening but it would be awesome.

Community solar will become a bigger part of solar as people in condos as an example can't get rooftop solar.

There will always be a need for other fuels. We just don't have to use as much of some of them if we use more renewable enrgy sources.

You think global warming is bad now?
Think about increasing the energy demand on the sun. The fission reactions will increase causing it to be hotter and brighter.
You won't be able to leave the house without blackout lenses and SPF 5000.

You know there's other renewable energy than the sun, right?

I thought about getting solar panels for my home, but I have concerns about safety. Basically I decided against it. I didn't want those panels being torn off my roof by a hurricane or violent thunder storm (we do have those things along the gulf) and crashing into my neighbors house next door. I mean you can't deny the possibility that under "perfect storm" conditions those panels can become a guillotine.
All those obamahead enviromentalist sing the praises of these things, but in this age of lawsuits (at the drop of a bucket) I can't risk it. I'll stay with electric power derived from fossil fuel....thank you.
Have a great day!

Tony Seba thinks a lot of Tony Seba.
He managed to raise $31M of venture capital money when the streets were paved with gold and people were throwing around VC dollars like they were gum wrappers.
He predicted the rise of the Internet? Well, duh.
I wouldn't lose too much sleep over what this " serial entrepreneur " says.
Nothing like being born on third base and going through life thinking you hit a triple.
