Back to college, in a completely different discipline, starting from scratch. Anybody gonna hire a 40 year old, straight outta college?

I know someone who started med school in their mid thirties, married with a couple of kids.

I'm basically about ready to graduate in psychology but am leaning heavily towards film school at UNO atm. My thinking is go big or go home. I've always wanted to work in film and might as well pursue it as opposed to ending up somewhere I'm not happy.

I say there is no age limit. This life is short and you only get one, so do whatever you want/whatever makes you happy if you can afford to.

At a "just out of college" salary, sure. You still have ~25 years of working life left in you. That's plenty of time to both work for the company (making you worth the hire) and increase your salary if you choose the right field (making it worth your time to go back to school). It's also ~25 years of doing something you enjoy a lot more.

TBH, it's more like 30-35, whether you want to or not. Not many people retire at 65 any more unless they're in government work or their health doesn't hold up.

I started a new career path in my late 20s, but I would say even into your 50s, life is way to short to not do something you enjoy

graduating at 40 will be fine, particularly if you can get some experience along the way...I wouldn't do it if you will be much over 45 when you graduate, though...
