That isn't really how evolution works. We've developed an infrastructure where the pretty much anyone from the species can reproduce and people with shitty genes don't have nearly as difficult of a time surviving as other species.

You are confusing evolution with natural selection. Evolution cannot be stopped, even in human's current condition that you described. It simply won't necessarily lead to an advantageous result, but it is still occurring.

Either hundreds, thousands, or millions.

If we make it another ~250 years, technology will be advanced enough that we'll be able to survive this solar system without Earth itself. Plenty of minerals and water. The sun can provide the energy. Robotics will be advanced enough to do the mining, construction, water extraction, etc...

If/when we discover faster than light travel, then a VERY long time. Of course if our descendants make it to a million+ years, they won't resemble modern humans.

In the grand scheme of things, humans are getting very close to something great. We just have to make sure that we don't kill ourselves in the meantime.

We'll know a long time in advance if it's going to happen, which is a plus (we're already tracking asteroids that have a VERY small chance of hitting us 100 years from now LINK / ). We haven't had to deal with the situation, obviously, but I suspect that we currently have the technology to prevent it from happening. Will be a lot easier/cheaper once we have a space elevator.

The solution that I've seen simply involves sending a really heavy object to intercept with the asteroid and follow it towards Earth. The gravity of the man-made object would be used to draw the asteroid off of it's path.

The scary thing isn't that the world is ending, it's that it's just going to keep on going for centuries and millennia after you're dead. You are an insignificant dust mote. Act accordingly.

Traveling faster than light will never happen and you wouldn't survive if it was even possible. Our ability to travel light years will be due to a Rosen Bridge.

So that's what the new Mississippi River bridge for the Loop will be called?

Sounds Jewish, why not the Doctor Weiss Memorial Bridge?

Yep. People have an inflated sense of importance. Nothing we do really matters outside of caring for family. We toil most of it away, saving for a future that may never come. It's really just the here and now, nothing else is really important. Just today.

Humanity is nearing the point technologically that we could deal with anything that mother nature throws at us. Even though bad things happen this is still probably the most peaceful Era in human history so the likelyhood of us destroying ourselves is decreasing compared to when we first developed the means to potentially destroy ourselves.

The earth will be here well over a billion years from now and if we get another millenia or so without a something crazy like a Yucatan type meteor hitting earth or us nuking ourselves, I think in some way shape or form our ancestors will be around even after earth.

I understand your problem with it, but Jewish people are funding the Rosen Bridge.

the acceleration of technology IMO implies that humans will either be extinct or extremely different a thousand years from now.

I don't know about decreasing, but I think it needs to stop increasing at the current rate for us to survive.
