quote:Reggie was key to getting classes, when online scheduling was all about reloading as many browser pages as possible to get in. One call to reggie go you the class.
Listening to the busy tone and hitting redial nonstop for hours until you finally get through just to find out most of the class sections you dial in are full. Good times.

Yep and also calling Reggie to get my grades at the end of the semester. I remember that computer voice well....
'English one thousand two.........B as in bravo'
'Algebra eleven o two.........C as in charlie'

I had to do this my last semester. Don't really remember if bad or good. Got my classes evidently.

Trying to remember the details of some of the tricks, both true and mythical, that we'd try.
I think one was that calling from certain buildings on campus would get you through faster...

I remember waiting til...was it midnight? and you kept hitting redial and redial and redial...
I would do it over at my parent's house, where they had two separate lines. My Dad had a business line for his home office and I usually got through on that one first. And being an upperclassman REALLY helped out when doing this as well, as previously mentioned.
I was talking about reggie, not too long ago......random.

It was still an option when I got there in 02, but they were moving to online registration which also sucked balls.
My first semester at LSU was Spring 01. I think that was the only time I used reggie. It was not fun and I always wondered how they registered before reggie, but I see someone said they had to go to the field house and wait, I am sure that sucked more than reggie.
I remember the first time I had an instructor post class notes on PAWS. For some reason I want to say that particular semester I had several classes in which the notes were posted for us, then after that it seemed like you had to get lucky to get into a class where the instructor posted the notes.

the online was there in 01. my freshman year. if you didn't go on the first day it dropped you at 1 am the following day. I got on at 1am and go all the classes I wanted.

I was just talking about Reggie to the young kids at work the other day
I never used it though. We had the option of that or the computer.

In. My last semester I register for a 6 hour internship. When I went to the professor that was in charge of internships he told me 6 hour internships weren't allowed. I told him Reggie let me register. Nothing was ever said and I got credit for 6 hours.

Is this where the name for the tiger land bar came from?

I was a sophomore English major. Reggie signed me up for Nuclear Science 8000. And then he told me "this class is not compatible with your major." Well no shite! Of course I was furiously trying to get out of it. Eventually Reggie told me "You have dropped Nuclear Science 8000 because you have no pre-requisites" or some garbage. Good times.

I remember driving to campus to use an on-campus line which got through before off-campus ones.
Also, I think I just missed the punchcard era.
