Overall its a pretty nice place the few times I've visited. Very nice people with lots of things to do. There's a portion of town that's very liberal (I'm talking about the granola eating kind). The Somalians who've been here for a while are actually pretty nice people. The female talent is kinda lacking in my opinion (lots of mediocre looking white girls with armpit hair and pancake butts). Other than that, I would definitely live there. The only problems Minneapolis has can be easily avoided.

I can take the cold no problem I think. Genetics or something but I never get cold down here.

It's a nice city. One of the best all-around cities in the country, minus the winters.

I also have a motorcycle. How is the riding up there? I'm guessing a lot shorter period for being able to ride compared to BR.

When is the last time you have heard of any major crime coming from that area???? You haven't. Never been but know people who have. Two great cites right next to each other. People have that northern nice about them but don't party like people in the south do.and almost everyone in this thread is bitching about the cold. It's something you can get used to. Plus as another poster said the spring and summer are fantastic. Very low humidity .i would have zero problem living there.

I've lived in Minnesota my whole life and have never once said this nor heard any of my friends or co-workers say "ya you betcha." It is a HUGE myth. There might be a few old timers in the Iron Range who say this, but is extremely rare.

That's pretty funny. We think southern accents are terrible. For the most part, most Minnesotans sound like the national news anchors with very little accents. It's all what you are used to I guess.

Most people ride between the months of May-October. There is some beautiful scenery in northern Minnesota and the bluffs in southeastern Minnesota.
Most of you have been spot on in your analysis. The inly two months that I really despise are January and February. Thanks to El Niño, we had a very mild winter. I only shoveled snow a handful of times and we had very few really cold days.
The education and health care here are some of the best in the country. We usually score the best (or in the top three) in the nation on average ACT scores. Mayo Clinic is one of the best hospitals in the world. We have teams in the four professional major sports, and the Lynx are coming off another WNBA Championship.
The hunting and fishing are great and there are quite a few biking and running trails. Other than in southern Minnesota, the lakes are abundant.
All in all, a great place to live minus a few winter months.

I agree. I was trying not to crack up talking with the recruiter. I didn't realize how different it was until the woman I was speaking with was stunned that I was saying yes mam and no mam lol. It was almost awkward because she wasn't used to it.

It's a joke. There are a lot of Swedes and Norwegians in the state. People from these countries used to say uff da, but I haven't heard anyone say it in many years. People in northern Minnesota do sound quite different from the rest of the state. I would consider some of them to have fairly strong accents.

I'm considering a move to Minneapolis but honestly not sure I can take the weather. I've been a place with a real winter for the past couple years and seasonal affective disorder it real.
