Depends on what you're looking for, I suppose. My cousin lives there and seems to love it. Personally, there's no job on this planet I would consider taking if it required living in Hammond.

Hammond is dumpy and full of trashy sorts. To glimpse the lowest class of people in an area go to the local Walmart around 4pm. Do that in Hammond, then Covington, then the Marketplace in Mandeville and you'll see Hammond is much, much worse. I walked into the Hammond Walmart yesterday as I do about once every 4 months and 98% of the people looked like they have been featured on People of Walmart. It was depressing. The Covington Walmart populace is Sak's level by comparison.
