I have a relative thinking about becoming a juvenile parole officer and he has to go the Academy in Arkansas to do so. What all does the training entail and how hard is it?

Not as hard as a citizen patrol's weekend boot camp.

If Rod Farva can make it, I'm sure your relative can.

You seen what cops look like? Fat women cops are proof it doesn't take much.

You should really watch the documentary called "Police Academy."

Lemme ask ya this:

Can he run a mile and a half in 15 minutes?

That's what it takes to make it with LDWF.

Good luck Usain Bolt.

Can you talk on the walkie talkie while holding two hot donuts in one hand and your personal cell in the other without dropping either or choking?

You need to be able to run a mile and a half in most places, but the time requirement is pretty easy.

My B-I-L is a police officer. Has been at it for 16 years.

Do they spend extra time training you to sit in your car wAtching a radar gun? Cause that is like 90% of the job..

the physical fitness is manageable, as long as your relative is somewhat active/atheletic person. what I hear gets to most of the folks that drop out is the straight up military-style treatment...getting yelled at and talked down to.

If the POST (shooting qualification test) is any indication, it's a fricking joke. Absolutely silly that that joke of a course is all cops have to do
