Not married but my gf cooked meatloaf one night and it wasnt good. She knew it, I knew it, and it wasnt a big deal for me to say it wasnt good at all. Being married wouldnt have changed anything.

That wasnt a battle that I had to pick

Picking your battles is not defending your 20 beers you drank last night while getting kicked out of the bar.

It's 2016 and I'm 41 years old, my mom still send food to my house and is always eager to please me. My mil and wife do so as well.

Not sure what your 1950's comment was supposed to insinuate

I think the most surprising thing I got out of that is that you're 41 years old.

Or coming home at 4 am 2 nights in a row. You just say "I'm sorry" and don't complain about how Hungover you are

Tell her right as she crosses the boundary to orgasm during sex.

I usually come up with excuses for why I don't eat much of it, like I'm not feeling well or I had a big lunch or it's ramadan but she's starting to catch on and honestly I'm tired of the charade.

Wait...are you a Muslim but you're wife is not?

I'm more interested in this dynamic than your wife's shitty cooking skills.

That appears to be some kind of soup that includes chicken and cheap sausage.

Gumbo is made with roux, it should not be transparent, and be thicker than soup and brown.

Going to need pics of the wife. Don't care what the gumbo looks or taste like.

I just tell the Missus what I like or don't like that she cooks.

Which may be why I've been living at the lake the last 6 mos.

Here's an actual suggestion. Next time she makes it, even if she makes it exactly like she always does, ask her if she made it differently. She'll say no but tell her anyway it tastes a little different and then say it seems (insert bs that makes sense)

You're actually onto something...but I say you eat it and then magically get a stomach virus. You know how whatever you eat right before you get sick is now something you can't even look at? BAM! There's your excuse.

Other than that, pick your battles...I don't think this one will end well.

Learn to eat it and tell her you like it.... I have similar story. My wife of 27 years loves to make this party punch that is crap. Every party she wants to make it. I figured years of no one drinking it would be the hint she needed. It wasn't. I finally told her last year after we had 3 gallons left over after a party. She got her panties in a wad and it was a big deal. Now this is no way in the same league as world famous gumbo.

Keep your mouth shut and eat it.... You passed up telling the truth a long time ago.

No, but speaking of which the sex hasn't been great as of late either. That's part of the reason I'm ready to tell her about the gumbo. If she holds out on the sex it won't be the worst thing in the world

Basically you're unhappy with your marriage right now and you're projecting it into your wife's terrible gumbo. Don't let stuff fester up inside of you, communicate with your spouse and let her know the issues.

Watery gumbo is just the worst. That being said, I would keep biting the bullet on this one.

That is some bull shite Grim. If one does not take the time to make their own roux then the gumbo should not be made. The roux and the mutha fruckin stock are key and the base of any true gumbo. That roux should take 35-45 minutes to make if she doing it right and the stock about 3 hours. Otherwise it is just canned soup tasting shite.

This. I was wondering if anyone was going to say something like this. Why don't you cook the gumbo next time the way you like it? I mean wtf dude. You've sat there for 8 years keeping this inside? Now all you deserve is to STFU and go have another bowl of world famous gumbo.
