re: How do I tell my wife that I don't like her gumbo?

I'm sure I'm not the first person to say it, but I'm not about to read every comment to see....
Just tell her what you don't like about it... I don't see what's so hard about that. If you lie, then you eat crappy gumbo everytime... If you're honest, she can work on it and eventually make good gumbo. Common sense

My wife and I don't sugar coat anything. Sometimes the truth hurts.

This isnt the depression or you returning back to the village after a 3 day hunt. Youre just thankful that there is a hot meal there? Jesus
Telling your wife her gumbo isnt good isnt the end of the world.

Depends on the person. Pick your battles.
Food ain't that important to me.

Jones, you don't get it
Has ZERO to do with the gumbo or the quality
The first comment is "why did you lie for all of these years?"

No, asshat, it's called honesty. Being honest is what it's all about. If her dish stinks then oh well, give her pointers to fix it.
You think that's bad, then have kids. Kids will tell mom that her food stinks with the quickness if they don't like it. Just brutal honesty. She may not like it, but if she wants to please then guess what, she will do better. What wives and mothers do is please, at least the good ones anyway.

If you can't be honest about something like the way food taste what excatly are the kinds of things you are honest about?
Do you tell her she's fat? Do you tell her the house is dirty, her clothes are ugl, etc.
What battles do you "pick"? I'm curious.

Its not very important to me either but if one of her dishes tastes like garbage, ill let her know. Im not going to be a dick about it but screw eating something that isnt good when you dont have to. This isnt picking battles imo.
And if youre from south LA and butchering one of our dishes, the battle is necessary. Plus our dishes are not hard to make but somehow so many people screw them up

You really seem bothered by this.

Oh, so you are saying a wife and mother wanting to please her husband and kids is outdated? Sounds quite feminist. You are pro feminist?

My wife's duck and andouille gumbo is the absolute best tasting dish in the world. Sucks for this guy with his shitty wife.
Posted on 10/23/16 at 10:14 pm to hendersonshands
word. if i come home to a meal that isnt hot or good, i just take off my belt and beat her until the food starts to get better.
it works
it works

That's the problem with people these days, anytime someone says something it offends them, then you have people that are afraid to tell their wife her gumbo isn't good in fear of offending her."pick your battles"??? Lol. If that's a battle then I'd hate to hear what other things these people are afraid to tell their wives.

It's 2016 and I'm 41 years old, my mom still send food to my house and is always eager to please me. My mil and wife do so as well.
Not sure what your 1950's comment was supposed to insinuate
