Very. I work in HIS and there are acronyms for everything. Hell the name of my field is an acronym, and so is my speciality (HIM). It takes a little while to catch on to the meanings of everything, but once you do it isn't so bad.

Consider yourself lucky, I'm pretty sure we have thousands. (Not used every day, but everything you see on the screen has it's own acronym, that is used in build and testing)

You talking about jargon, because I'm pretty sure every industry has jargon that outsiders wouldn't understand.

insane amount of acronyms used in my profession

I work for a government contractor, so not only are there a comical amount of acronyms, but many of them don't even match up with the terminology being shortened, and a good chunk of them are more difficult to remember or say than the actual words.

Everything is an acronym here.

What's the acronym for shooting a dog.
In all seriousness, in the accounting world, it is rampant. I bet it is rampant in almost any industry because it sticks on as industry jargon, which allows people to understand if someone is "in the know" very quickly.

Acronyms is the language of the medical field.
Not medical related, but a favorite is PICNIC, problem in chair, not in computer.
