you don't really understand statistics.

it's not saying if you frick 100 times you're only protected for 98 of them. It is for every single individual condom use it is 98% effective, it's a bit nuanced but changes the picture greatly.

2% annual failure rate =/= breaking 1 out of 50 times.

Per year, not per frick.

If all 50 women frick once per week (purely hypothetical), and one gets pregnant, then you're looking at a 1/2500ish chance per frick.

I'd really be interested in knowing how effective this is. I'll put the O/U at 60%

If having sex once per day every day, it's at least 83% effective. If basing it solely on pulling out a couple days before and during ovulation, the stats would be all over the place.

EDIT: But Carson said to pick 2, which pretty much guarantees non-pregnancy if done properly.

Unless I've seen the girl take the pills and I've been dating her a while, I'm using a condom. Using only the pull out method is a good way to have an "uh oh" baby

2 percent per year is not the same as failing 2% of the time

not sure how exactly they figure it but they must look at a couple using condoms, and out of all the sample groups, couples that use condoms have a 2% reported pregnancy rate

so out of 100 couples using condoms all year long, 2 will end up pregnant. so how many time per year does each couple have sex? that will give you a per use failure rate...

The 2% breakage calls for a Walgreens visit and a mandatory plan b pill.

No, it's 2% per year. Assuming 3 times per week that's 150 times a year per couple. Out of every 100 of those, 2 wind up preggo, so that's more like 2 in 15 thousand.

But the real reason is that she let him go without when she thought it was safe.

woman can still get HPV, but the rate is a lot lower, for men the difference is even greater

In a 28-month study of 123 college women, researchers found that sexually active women who used condoms consistently were significantly less likely to contract HPV than were women who had not used condoms.
In a study among 148 women already diagnosed with a pre-cancerous cervical condition and their male partners, 53 percent of women who used condoms had normal cervical findings at two consecutive follow-ups, versus 35 percent of women who did not use condoms. In the same study, 23 percent of women who used condoms cleared HPV from their system (as shown by HPV testing) compared to four percent of women who did not use condoms

LINK

In one year with perfect use (meaning couples use condoms consistently and correctly at every act of sex), 98 percent of women relying on male condoms will remain pregnancy free. With typical use, 85 percent relying on male condoms will remain pregnancy free.
