What's wrong with Pearland? I looked at houses there years ago when I had a job offer in Houston

To clarify, I'm in new Pearland, by Towne Center. Old Pearland, the east side of town, is actually very nice.

Outside of Ronnie Killen and 1 good Italian place, it's a culinary wasteland in a city that's exploding with new good restaurants.

The traffic on the main artery that is 518/Broadway is completely ridiculous.

The amount of retail and grocery outlets available for the number of people that live there is inadequate. Our stores are always out of items, unorganized, and understaffed.

It just feels like they are growing faster than their commercial scene can keep up. I loved the League City are, but the commute to the med center was brutal.

You are talking out of your arse. You say you are talking about about Houston but keep referring to the the trash in the woodlands and the proximity of crime in the area.

Go take your pretentious hippy arse back to Austin.

That's exactly my point. Nobody is pretentious or cares about this stupid comparison. Where are these upity Dallas residents living?

I just moved to Dallas after 12 years in Houston and Dallas is by far superior. It’s not even close.

Houston is awful. Lacking character,

The lies...did you actually visit Houston or one of the outer cities like pearland and claim it houston? Houston's a melting pot, so for it to not have character would be a bold statement.

Hate to break it to you but you didn't really live in Houston. Kinda makes your case void. Woodlands is about 15 minutes away from the outer loop and 45 from the actual city.

No shite? I've lived here a year and a half and never know The Woodlands wasn't inside the city limits.
No, it doesn't make my case void at all. I still have to deal with crime that comes from Houston. I still have to deal with Houston traffic. I still have to deal with the crappy Houston weather.

Now as far as the crime, I had a local LEO at my house just a couple weeks ago talking to him. Someone I know personally. He was telling me that the vast majority of the crime here is people driving up to the area from the city. He said they do so because of the ease of access to I45. They can rob a couple of places, jump on 45, and be gone by the time the police are dispatched. People here don't recognize them and makes it extremely difficult for the police to catch them. He said it's that and drug addicts, but the druggies don't usually plan it out and travel out of their areas. I have no reason not to believe him.

what character does Dallas have?

The area with the most character is deep Ellum and that’s a very small area

If everbody is pretentious and uppity....I think I'm good in my own circle

Hopefully we can all agree the douchers in Texas are in Austin, not Houston or Dallas. Not even debatable.

Heights has blown up. So expensive now.

True and also true. I'd love to move into one of the town homes though. If that doesn't work, there's always montrose. But even outside of the loop there are nice spots on San Felipe

Cheapest I found is in independence heights. 3 story town home. They are building a Whole Foods on Yale and 610 so that might help that area

People in Dallas don’t care about the mythical rivalry with Houston. Everyone I’ve spoken to here has had nothing but good things to say about Houston. The weather has sucked tho, it’s been cold af. But I don’t miss the humidity in Houston tho.

Yes really. It takes 45 min to get to the woodlands without traffic. It’s exactly like living in Covington or Slidell but saying you live in nola

I had a company dinner downtown Monday. I left my house at 5:00 and was there at exactly 5:30. Going home took me 22 minutes. The place we ate at was off of Allen Rd near 45, south of I10.

Absolutely, the woodlands is a completely different city than Houston.

It’s more like living in Covington. Dell is like channelview

Eh. It’s sill Texas. What it has in pride and economy, it detracts by excessive arrogance.

Exactly! Deep Ellum is the only place in Dallas that i've noticed that has some flavor. That and Oaklawn.

A whole city > two areas of a city

don't buy a town home in the Heights. parts of the Heights are becoming town home cluster fricks. no way those things retain value long term.
