If you hate big cities and crowds.. how do you have a valid opinion of Houston vs Dallas? They are the 4th and 5th largest cities in the US.
You were going to hate Houston before you moved here anyway

but it'll still be in a relatively shitty area 50 minutes (peak times, like most weeknight games) from the heart of Dallas.
It's not even 50 minutes from me and I'm over in East Dallas

Near the ghetto, not in it
It's literally across the street. Proximity is close enough to call it ghetto.
The only reason it's not "in" the ghetto is because it butts up the south end of the med center.

Yes, Dallas is better than Houston. It's not even close really.
Do you enjoy flooding, giant mosquitoes, crushing humidity, higher crime, worse traffic, and evacuating b/c of hurricanes?
Well then Houston is for you!

Lived in Dallas (Addison, NE Suburbs Murphy/Sachse) 17
Both are nice but everywhere you go in Houston takes an hour (Win Dallas).
The Cowboys are in Dallas (Win Dallas).
Drugs were cheap in Houston, but I don't do them anymore. (wash).
Dallas has a more diversified employment base
Women - Dallas
Less Mexicans - Dallas
The North Dallas area of Allen, Frisco, McKinney, Murphy etc etc is probably the nicest and fastest growing area in the South/SouthWest
Lets fix this bias shite:
IE: Lived in Houston (Klein area) 18 years
Lived in Dallas (Addison, NE Suburbs Murphy/Sachse) 7 months
Both are nice but everywhere you go in Houston (and Dallas) takes an hour. (wash).
The Cowboys are in Dallas - And are overrated (Win Houston).
Drugs were cheap in Houston, but I don't do them anymore. (wash).
Dallas has a more diversified employment base - False
Women - If you like fake everything - Dallas
Less Mexicans - Racist much? - Dallas
Midtown, Montrose, Rice Village, River Oaks, and The Heights are the nicest and fastest growing area in the South/SouthWest

I can avoid all of this while living in Houston. Wait, not the humidity, but we're not alone in that.
But can't avoid pretentious Dallasites/Dallasians/Dallasans while living in Dallas.
We all have priorities.
ETA: This "competition" is stupid.

people from both locations are obsessed with this comparison
all of the "assets" each side boasts are generally overrated.

so 4 out of 6 are resolved by simply not being poor. great point.

I'm sure if the situation were reversed, you'd find Houston people doing the same.
I'm sure it's mostly people who grew up in either city.

You are 100% correct. For years, I've referred to Houston as the butthole of Texas. I've never liked Houston. However, I thought I'd be ok living in the Woodlands as it's not in the city and has a lot to offer. If it weren't for the sheer proximity of the crime, I'd be a lot happier here.

Has anyone mentioned Dallas Cowboys (5) Super Bowls, Houston Texans (1) playoff win.
Posted on 2/14/18 at 12:56 pm to FieldMink
Bonus: all of those areas are in the middle of the city.. not a 40 min drive away.
Both are good cities. Depends on your likes.
Dallas- vanilla
Houston-spice

I won't fight you on anything but this. The northern Dallas burbs are exploding faster than anywhere.

Idk come to Houston enough and see for yourself I suppose

And though I really hate my burb (Pearland), I'm generally 20-30 minutes from anything there.
What's wrong with Pearland? I looked at houses there years ago when I had a job offer in Houston
Posted on 2/14/18 at 12:58 pm to pickle311
Yeah because The Woodlands is like North Baton Rouge with all of the crime.

How long would it take you getting to a weeknight game?
Google tells me 35-1:10 leaving at 5PM from UP/White Rock, which certainly aligns with the Rangers games I've been to during the week.
